Can I start a new character?

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2016 3:58 am

I thoroughly enjoy the play of the past few weeks, but there are a couple things I wish I had done differently. There are also a few things I wonder about if I had started a toon a little bit differently.

How do I go about starting over and selecting different setups yet still save my current character and its games?

...or am I stuck with what I have?

...or yes I can start over, but my current toon and his progress will be completely erased?

...or dream on cheap skate, buy a new download as its the only way to start over?

No it's fine, he has the right forum. If you start a new guy it will have it's own set of saves. The old guys saves will be there as well. You have to select the old guy, while the new guys saves will be at the front. some people have tripped over that and thought their saves for the old guy were gone, not so.

You can make as many characters as you want. :) Just go to the main menu and hit "New Game". You then will have your saves kept to each character, listed in "Load Game" under the name you gave the character.

I'm on PS4. If you get bored with a character, just select 'NEW' from the game menu and you'll start over, keeping your current character and their progress. I just give the new character a new/different name.

Well. No matter what character you make....it'll always be Nate anyways no matter what you do. Even if you make Nate, fat or skinny. Change his eyes and hair and slap a different name on it. It'll still talk like Nate in the dialogues in the main quest lines and in some of the factions. That and you have infinite levels.

Definitely, even if you play as Nora, it'll always still be Nate. It's just basically Nate wearing Nora's clothes while you play as Nora.

i always just go into my fo4 folder and copy paste my save file to the desk top. when i want to play a certain PC, i swap out the save files. a little tedious, but i have lost saved games in the past, and this is my solution to stopping it! :-)

One thing I worried about when starting a new character was, how is Quicksave handled? I was pleased to discover that each character has his/her own Quicksave. I'm on PS4; each character has a unique save code number attached to her name, so each has her own Quicksave, her own 3 Autosaves and her own Hard Save(s).

OP, make as many characters as your heart desires -- or at least as many as you have drive space for.

Not if you save just before you exit vault 81 as you can change the name. Makes different playthroughs a tad less of a hassle.
