Can someone give an answer regarding regarding Piles

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2016 8:23 am

I really would like to know a definitive answer or explanation as to the situation regarding whether ashpiles and goopiles do remain in the game permanantly or not?

I have found a smart Legendary pistol that adds energy damage and can turn enemies to goo - I just don't want to populate my world with green gobs of slime that just grow in number over time till there is so much green goo it will look like a scene out of Ghostbusters!!

Thought I'd stumbled onto some E-doctor forum when I read the title.

In regards to your piles problem though, I believe they despawn correctly everywhere but settlements

Yes. Yes they do. It's always been that way with Beth games including TES and Fallout.

Don't know why they have never fixed it, but I don't see it being addressed in this patch either.

On the plus side, if you have enough goo piles/ash piles around your settlement from attacks, you don't even need to put in lights. It's bright all the time.

I am not going to bother with energy weapons until the GECK is released. That way I can change all the energy weapons not to create ash / goo piles. Besides, I am still having fun using ballistic weapons.

Depends which part of the game world. In cells which reset after 3 days of not visiting them, piles disappear. In cells which does not reset, like your settlements, piles will persist.

Yeah I have played Bethesda games since Arena came out around 1994 and I am aware of the problem going back to FO3 - but what I don't understand is that is one of, if not the MOST, annoying bugs so why can't they have sorted it out considering FO3 was released over 7 years ago??? It is a bit of a disgrace really by bethesda to have not sorted this out considering they have had several years to do so and means that players like myself the other poster above refuse to experience a part of the game which is using energy weapons.

I am sticking to ballistic weps only too - which is a sad state of affairs to miss out on a range pf other weapons simply because the devs can't sort this out a few games later.

I'm a systems\software developer and I know we wouldn't leave our customers with a bug first raised several years earlier, it would have been fixed a Loooooooong time ago

Between the Username of OP and the thread title... O.O

Sure, my mind went there, but at least I know I'm not alone...

As to the question, they do seem to be permanent, from my experience. It hasn't been an issue, other than the ash pile being a tad conspicuous, like maybe it should blow away in one of those radiation storms eventually.

Hey, Bethesda, there you go, have radiation storms despawn ash piles.

Is it not kind of a very minor irritation though? You end up with innumerable piles of glowing ashes from your expired "Raised Dead" spells all over Skyrim but it never bothered me and I have some piles near almost all of my settlements in F4 (I equip my folks with a lot of laser and plasma weapons) but they don't bother me in the least.

Can you imagine if they did that with the regular bodies as well? The place would look like a charnel playground before long.

If you're on PC you can get rid of ash/goo piles with the console. "markfordelete" works well.

Yes it is noce to see these ash and goo remains as a nice reminder of "Oooo I killed something there" - but permanant..... really!!!

I am pretty sure that ash moves with the slightest fart (yes jokes welcome from my post title - it was on purpose and if you don't believe I asked this same post previously with the same joke, just couldn't be bothered this time!!!)

Ash would blown away in no time at all

Goo would have either eventually soaked into the land - or if on concrete of the broken roads the rainfall would wash it away.

Just seems stupid that these perfect forms of ash and goo just............. stay there. Stupid!

It amazes me that this is still a problem. These permanent goo/ash piles have caused problems in previous Fallout games. How freakin hard is it to make them auto-despawn? lol

If you're on PC, open the console, click on the pile, and enter 'disable' and then 'markfordelete' to get rid of them.

People have complained about this since FO3. It's still a issue. I don't think they give a toss, they've made their money.

Indeed - I was about to suggest bath salts, or a special pillow.
