Questions About the Consequences of Quest "Molecular Lev

Post » Thu Feb 11, 2016 7:55 pm

I'm trying to create save file that I can return to and complete any of the faction endings. I'm approaching the Molecular Level, and I'm wondering if I may need to make that the crux point for the save, or if I can safely continue further into the game with all the options open.

1. Does Inside Job require building the device at Sanctuary Hills?

2. Are there any workarounds for the issue where Sturges becomes a non-settler, or is it permanent?

3. I've read one wiki entry that says "Defend the Castle" requires that both "Banished From The Institute" and "Inside Job" must be completed for it to activate. Is this correct, and does that mean that the minuteman questline can become locked out if you build the transporter for a different faction?

4. Are there any major faction quests that get locked out by decisions made during Molecular Level?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

1. No

2. Not that I know of except maybe using console commands.

3. You can build the transporter for another faction and give the holotape to the Minutemen. I built the transporter for the Minutemen and gave the holotape to the Railroad for my first game.

4. There might be major faction quests that are locked out by your decision for Inside Job, but not Molecular Relay.

There are basically no consequences for doing the Molecular Level with any given faction.

1. You can talk to Sturges anytime after getting into the Institute to start Inside Job.

2. He'll revert back to his normal settler status after completing the Molecular Level.

3. No, the Minutemen quest line won't be locked out. You'll have plenty of time to complete Inside Job before getting Banished from the Institute (assuming that you don't immediately get banished anyway).

4. No. You can continue down all four faction quest lines for a good while yet.

The key points are basically -

Railroad - Underground Undercover (partially completed)

Brotherhood of Steel - Tactical Thinking (triggered, but not started)

Institute - Mass Fusion (triggered, but not started)

Minutemen - Inside Job (completed)

That's basically the furthest you can go simultaneously in all four faction quest lines while remaining friendly with all of them. After that point, at least one faction is going to be hostile toward you.

Actually, you guys were both incorrect on this one.

Inside job/Minutemen requires that you use Sturges to build the device. I chose to do it with the Railroad, and Sturges has no new dialogue and won't start "inside job."

That's correct. Sturges will not say anything. You can now give holotape to BoS and get Danse's personal quest, blind betrayal. Do that and maybe you get a perk for free... You can do "liberty reprimed" without get any consequence for any other factions. If you choose to involve MM, do "banish from the institute". This ain't 100% sure of, it depends what you did earlier, but new quests will open, you can now choose BoS way or MM way. Happy gaming!

What I was hoping is that Inside Job isn't required for the Minuteman ending.

I'm finding conflicting information about that. At the moment, according to the wiki at .wikia, I no longer have access to the minuteman ending, and there is no way to regain it without going back and redoing Molecular Level with the Minutemen.

I have found sources that say that "Banished From the Institue" is necessary, but that "Inside Job" is not (including you.) I think what I should probably do is create a save, and then immediately get myself kicked out of the Institute, to test whether or not the Minuteman questline activates. If I were to do that, would there be a random period of waiting before something like "Defend the Castle" activated, or would there be a quest that activates or can be activated immediately?

Doing inside job for MM probably not require, you can do it with RR. If you do "banish from the institute" - Institute misc quest, killing any inside that location, youre able to talk to "Elvis" Preston and continue the MM questlines. If I'm totally on the wrong field, please correct me, because I haven't finish MQ. Due to polygon site (wiki) you should do inside job for MM, but it seems to me that it doesn't matter who make the machine, probably more important who got the Network holotape.
