Weird AI bug

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 3:04 pm

Hi all, recently I started playing fallout 4 again after a while and I've come across what I think is a bug. Well, the thing is, every time I encounter a group of enemies, most of them (sometimes all of them) act scared and run away, hidden behind some cover.

At first I thought it was something regarding my level being too high while the enemies' too low (I'm at level 34, which is not that high anyway..) but even going against enemies of the same level as mine, the result is the same.

Weirder thing: I was exploring a certain shelter (no spoiler) and I got ambushed by a dozen of synths.. and after they saw me, here they are, hiding like they're scared to death.. synths.

I hope it's just a bug and it's easy to fix, if so please help me, it's really annoying to fight someone that.. well, doesn't even try.

Thanks in advance, apologies for the bad english :P

It is not a bug. It is called "Taking cover".

If you would have taken the time to look at the screenshots I've linked, that's not "taking cover". They're not shooting, just running away, scared.

wow, you have finally gernerated enough street cred to be feared on sight! Congrats!

But more seriously, I have seen that happen, once. It was while I was doing the Silver Shroud quest line. The 'boss' in the theater area did that to me. But I've only ever seen it that one time and could not find a solution.

Other than dance around his scared self shouting insults, before blasting his head clean off....

Hate to say it, but do you have a save from before the first time you noticed this happening? Might be the only way to correct it right now...

Are you using any mods?
Those synths have no weapons equipped, which they normally have in combat.

Are the other enemies also lacking weapons as well?

Yes, they are cowering because they don't want to fight.

After i finished a certain battle the residents of Bunker Hill do the same thing but them not fighting is oK.

I'm sorry for your loss of foes.

Nah, actually they have their weapons, guns disappear when they're in that position.

Off topic, but when I read the subject of this thread, I thought it was "Weird Al" as in: "Weird Al" Yankovic

I don`t think intimidation perk work like that...

and wow.. this is funniest glitch of all time.

Seems like some how your enemies are utilizing non-battle NPC AI..

These behaviors can be found only in few selected NPCs.. who does not pick up gun and shoot..

Mostly... kids in the game... and only during certain quest event. Even settlers fight to the death in this game.

I'm here for Weird Al Yankovic.

Are we sure it isn't a perk? If a synth obtains sapience, knows it can die; thinks like a human, why couldn't they be cowed in the same ways a human would?

Does affiliation/ In game actions/who that particular cluster of synths are have anything to do with it?

You are not the only one.

I think we need a DLC featuring Weird Al maybe a spoof of UHF.
