Which would you do?

So, I'm torn.

Should I continue with my newest build (not important what the build is actually) and revamp my entire settlement system in to a more desirable model

-or-

Should I go back to my 80+ level character post main quest conclusion and start scrapping down my settlements and starting over with them (one at a time, of course!)

Thoughts?

The second option sounds better.

Gee, I don't know what's right for you.

Me, personally, i won't start a new character until DLC is released and there have been a few more patches.

I'm personally enjoying revamping the settlements to suit the large populations.

Reducing settlement turret defence to the bare minimum and replacing them with purpose built, spaced boundary structures that involve an elevated guard post with assigned settler.

Relying on the settlers and a companion to do most of the minor fighting and settlement defence.

I had a classic last night.

Walking from Warwick to Atom Cats to Murkwater.

Stopped into Quincy to confiscate another PA suit for the companion to steal and add to my underwater collection at the marina.

After clearing out the gunners i was massively overloaded with guns and armour.

So crawled my way to Murkwater past the Toy factory.

The mutants were aroused by the companion and they all chased her to Murkwater.

When I arrived at nearby Murkwater the Raiders were attacking.

So it was a free for all of raiders, mutants and settlers in a prolonged battle.

Great to watch.

Then I got called to the nearby checkpoint to help out as they were under attack from deathclaws.

i crawled over there and fired a few shotgun blasts and crawled back to the pad at Murkwater.

Called it a night.

Now i have to remember which settlement needs all the guns and heavy duty armour i collected from the gunner cleanout.

I should have jotted it down.

Why torn? and 2nd is more advantegous. It seems the aim is a new settlement basing (strategy), the whole settlement system change?!

Second option sounds easier, assuming you've been collecting materials the entire time and have been storing them for use later. The first option might be smarter, because I found after playing for a while and building settlements that I never had enough steel, and if you truly scrap your settlements, you'll never have enough without scavenging tin cans for days. If you are just going to store all your old materials from your level 80 and then lay everything out anew, you'd be fine with the level 80.

Personally, I have a hard time unseeing what I've done, so I would start new and rebuild; fresh canvas and all that. Which is actually what I am doing myself ha ha.

My only issue is getting back the Picket Fences mags. I truly do enjoy those changes.

A lot to think about! Thanks all.

I do understand what u are saying , the lvl 80+ character would be a lot easier to play and redo the settlements .

I have a new character I restarted with and

1- have not joined any factions ( haven't seen RR yet )

2- all new settlement procedure , doing the defense/ crops /power and that stuff 1st before any recruiting

-- Have found that settlers will give u things to go and do - raiders/mutants/ferals

--limiting the amount of settlers and making sure all are assigned ..

is just a idea for ya , or maybe a " oh yea this would be fun "

Hope it helps ya and u can have some FUN , in whatever u decide to do .

The way I've done it is I have my main character (first playthrough) to build settlements since it's the one I choose the minutemen ending with so for me that's a perfect way of having some endgame content. REbuilding the commonwealth, taking it slowly and give each settlement their own personality. Beside this character I now have two others, which neither is focused on settlement building and more on roleplaying their different specialities (builds). I do however use the settlements to make some personal homes/bases and perhaps one or two inhabited settlements that suit their personality.

So if I were you and felt I've built alot of settlements I'm not fond of I would scrap them (or remake them) and focus the settlement building with that character. I have most fun exploring and "playing the game" in the beginning of my playthroughs and advancing slowly so I don't want to spend lots of time on settlement with those but instead enjoy the 'real' fallout experience with them while I always can go back to my first character if I feel for doing some building.

I like the second option just because it involves your current character dealing with the consequences of their past actions and going about to fix things.
