3 things I find annoyingfustrating with Fallout 4.

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 6:33 pm

1. Defending settlements.

Seriously, if you put the effort in to building your settlements any you have over 500 defense aimed at 1 or 2 choke points you should not have to show up to successfully defend your settlement. I show up and my defense hits the enemy so hard before I even ready my weapon that their corpses despawn. Yet everything is destroyed if I either don't show up or an enemy gets so scared of my base defenses that they actually run away and hide so I fail defending the settlement.

Plus with all the defense that the settlements have, why, why, why do settlers insist on running outside the base to attack raiders.

2. Companion weapons.

Base companion weapons have unlimited ammo and settlers have unlimited reloads as long as you equip them with ammo. We should at the very least have unlimited ammo with companions using their base ammo. At least you could upgrade Strong, Cait, etc with a decent upgraded weapon that they won't burn through thousands of rounds of ammo in one encounter.

3. Lack of a diplomatic ending.

The 4 factions really are not far apart on their goals. I would love to be able to bring all sides to at least a fragile cease fire so they can open a dialog and explore their options.

Edit: Adding my response to a question about #3.

I'm curious. How would you make it so the BOS and the Institute have a cease fire?

Generally curious as I've seen many people say they want a diplomatic ending, but never provide ways it could work.

1. they give u money the least u can do is help them if they get kidnapped and used for target practice by raiders

2. use console commands and give them modded weapons , ammo , and 5/5 commando perk

3. yeah ... this part of the game could have been improved on

- maybe in future DLC's

- i'm hoping to see an evil faction that comes in play and destroy every faction & after u can make alliances between factions , help them rebuild and take on the evil faction

If BoS win -> they capture the institute , the scientists join them as Scribes , and synths join as knights

if Institute -> you give willing BoS members the option to join you're faction , some will some won't

1. Annoying but enjoyable haha. I would miss them if they are not there.

2. I hope maybe inspirational Perk IV can add this function. It would make game much more fun.

3. Politics.. lol. I hope this was possible.

1. Totally agree. Defending a settlement should be reworked into a mission format. Go to the settlement, talk to someone to initiate the defense, get attack by a few waves of enemies, legendary boss at the end.

2. Yup, would make kitting out your companions so much more rewarding.

3. Eh. Not sure how the brotherhood could get diplomatic with the institute or the railroad. I think this particular issue is a symptom of a larger problem, which is their reworked dialog system. Giving the main character a voice and emotional responses is not better than being silent with a myriad of dialog options to customize your experience.

I've never understand why people want the ceasefire solution when it's never the best ending in any sense. It's basically just waiting for the lit to blow upon like between the Stormcloak and the Empire. Keep the most factions alive don't mean keeping the most people alive, especially when these ceasefire just provide certain groups to build up more strength and power in the end.

1- That wouldn't work since the BOS view synths as abominations and the scientist as war criminals. Hell,

Spoiler
One of their best troops is a synth and they turned on him without a second thought

2- I doubt the knights on a crusade would be willing to join the enemy. Especially when said enemy just threatened or killed their brothers/sisters in arms.

The BOS and the Institute are two factions that I really don't see having a "Lets hold hands" option.

You'd be surprised how open people are open to negotiating when they are staring down the barrel of a gun. The Institute at a certain point depending on the game is at war with 3 factions and despite their technology, they are not fighters and are at a huge disadvantage once they are compromised. The Minutemen just want a peaceful Commonwealth, the Railroad want to free Synths and the biggest beef the Brotherhood has with the Institute is their genetic engineering and Synth technology. It would be a matter of finding compromise, freedom of existing Synths with no producing new Synths would be a demand brought to the table. The Brotherhood, while racist, has shown some tolerance for civilians and normal Ghouls and I believe that they could be convinced to accept the continued existence of Synths in exchange of the research and weaponizing the anti-FEV drug. I believe that the prospect of the Brotherhood being able to drop gas bombs on Super mutant stongholds that would change them back tomhuman form would definitely get their attention.

1. I don't have this problem because almost all of my settlements defense 400+. At level 39, I've had 4 attacks total (including 1 from last night). Each time I fast travel to a settlement, the battle is over. MG turrets does all the muscle work. It would be nice if the attackers change up there strategy. Lay siege to the castle or have Gunner vertibirds drop barrel bombs on settlements, followed by a 2-3 prong attack.

I don't have a problem winning if I'm there. but I don't always get the notification that an attack is taking place and I'll go resource poor repairing those 500 plus defense settlements.

Nice cover art for your pic, I believe that's a Rifter cover art from Palladium Books.

Two things that really ruffle my petticoat are:

1)The button(Xbox)that switches between 1st and 3rd person is at times not very responsive at all. I sometimes have to mash it 3 or 4 times to get ready for a fight.

2)leaving a work bench takes too long, if I'm done making whatever it is I'm making I want to get straight back into the game, not be forced to watch a crappy animation for the millionth time.

- if BoS main-faction ->> during the RR HQ assault , thru a charisma check , the RR surrenders all military equipment in exchange for a pardon ... RR heavy's can join Knights , and RR scientists join Scribes

- if RR main - faction ->> to make it believable u have to ally with The Institute -> then give a chance for BoS to surrender in the same faction they keep Power Armors / Lasers , and given the opportunity to help against commonwealth threats alongside synths , RR heavy 's

- it's an option , not everybody wants to blow up everything , and adds to RP factor

- parley !! ( to quote Jack Sparrow from POTC )

I don't find any of those situations believable?

Maxson lets synth sympathizers join the brotherhood? Never gonna happen. They would be a threat from the inside.

The Railroad would never ally with their sworn enemy, the institute, and the brotherhood would go down fighting rather than join them any day.

I'm all for diplomatic solutions, but lets be realistic about the characters and their motives.

- you want a diplomatic solution but u are certain it won't happen :) , maybe diplomacy is not for you

- some will fight back yes , but many would prefer working with synths to dyeing fighting them

- if Institute main faction -> RR soldiers are given the chance to fight along side synths against the BoS or work for the institute in gathering tech from the surface , the best way to protect synths is to fight along side them

- if RR main faction -> they capture the institute , reset Synths to fight as RR Heavy's , cease synth experiments , scientists in the Institute are given the option to help with synth maintenance or leave , help rebuild the commonwealth

- again , it should be an option... diplomacy isn't for everybody , if u don't believe it possible then u are free to blow up everything u like , just the fact that is missing it's abit strange for an RPG game

In your game, is the battle sequence lengthy or short? Same here.. The settlements with the defense that are 400+ are pretty much self-sufficient. The only times I fast travel to them is to collect rent (caps, mutfruit and water). Thanks, yup #28.
