The real Minutemen

Looking back at the historical Minutemen, there are a lot of referencestuff to them and the American Revolution. Laser Muskets, The USS Constitution, meeting Preston at Concord, the Quincy Massacre being simular to the Boston Massacre (though with the Minutemen losing), and the Battle of Bunker Hill (why the Minutemen are not involved in this is beyond me) are all huge references the the revolution. It's the little details that count.

Edit: cleaned this post up, auto correct on my phone is savage.

Bethesda loves their American history references. A few more:

Spoiler
In the quest "Taking Independence", the Minutemen are fighting against a bunch of lobsterbacks ruled by a queen.

Spoiler
In the quest Old Guns, you get the Minutemen General's Uniform from a corpse trapped in the Castle Tunnels with several bottles of Amontillado Wine nearby. This is a reference to a short story by Poe, the Cask of Amontillado, where a man is sealed alive in a wine cellar. And the kicker, Poe got inspiration for his story after hearing a story about some soldiers who got a hated lieutenant drunk and sealed him in their fort's dungeon to die.
