Fallout: Shelter. Anyone else playing this game?

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 4:32 am

Is anyone else playing the game 'Fallout: Shelter'? I just downloaded it from my App Store and I'm loving it so far. My vault is Vault 254 and so far, things are going smoothly. Have a few Dwellers who don't have much skill, so I sent them out into the Wasteland to look for supplies.

I downloaded it this morning on my way to work, I'll check it out tonight when I get home. Looks fun.

There's a dedicated Fallout Shelter forum, btw.

Yep, it's fun.

I'm not being impatient and I'm not expanding the vault too fast.

I think that's what I just did and now Vault 254 is having trouble keeping up with the food/water/electric supply.

On Android so...

It's a shame too. I'm actually more interested in this game than I am Fallout 4 at the moment.

Didn't Todd say it was for Android and Apple? Did he have to take that back somewhere or is the Android one just not released yet?

It's great; If you love games like these where you take care of a population, micro-manage, and can handle the need to always be there.

If you prefer to save and load and play in your own time, well you might not enjoy it as much. I personally don't have the time right now needed to play. And I get stressed when I'm starting to run out of resources. Having a job means I can't just take the time to care for my poor vault dwellers. On weekends sure but they all be dead by then.

Unless someone know a way to halt time?

I believe he was talking about the app for the pipboy in the collectors edition.

Really? It's all in real time only?

That must have been it.

Well, one of my Vault Dwellers is now pregnant only...there's low food and water supply and the Vault's too overcrowded.

Hmm...this feels familiar to another Vault in the Fallout lore. What was it?

Well, I shut it down through the in-game menu, and by removing it from my active apps. A couple of hours later and I was almost out of water and food in my vault, I had above half of both before. If I could shut it down and no time passes, I would keep it and play. But now I just feel bad for my vault dwellers because I can't be there all the time. So I will remove it for now.

... so what happens when the player goes to sleep at night? Wake up and everyone's dead? There has to be a way to stop it surely.

I have not found any way. I think we're supposed to just deal with it. Otherwise we won't feel the tension of having almost no food, radiation because no clean water, etc.

just wondering, anybody of you happen to remember "little people" or "little computer people", one of the titles todd mentioned as a core inspiration for this? -

congrats in this to the dev's, totally caught the feel, LCP was the first thing that came to my mind when the first screen of the game was shown (which i can't play myself unfortunately, since i'm using a decidedly un-smart phone. with keys and all. :-)

edit: hey beth, how about a pc or browser version...? :-)

Would love a browser or FB version. Would be playing it now if there was one.
