Defense turrets

It would be really nice if we could add defense turrets to the vault door room or outside it. Raiders keep coming in and killing half my dwellers because I've only found one weapon so far, which leaves me pretty defenseless at this stage of the game. It would be awesome to have some way to keep the raiders out besides hoping you find some good weapons.

I agree. I don't see the meaning in upgrading the vault door as it only keep the raiders out for an extra couple of seconds. If we're not able to add extra defense systems this seems quite meaningless.

I know having weapons is a big issue. Upgrading the door gives you time to get guards into the room. I have 32 residents and only 18 (might have miscounted) have guns. The way I have found them is to send out an adventurer. The in game docs say that a dweller with a high level and high special has the best chance of survival. So pick your highest leveled char also with the highest special. I'd say the special rating is your priority though. Give him the best or the only weapon. I don't think outfits reduce damage to an adventurer so only give them an outfit to boost their special unless you really need it for the dwellers assigned to your resources.

After you pick who will go, give them about 4 stim packs and 2 radaway. Send him out for one hour and watch to see if his health has dropped to half or not. You can recall the adventurer after an hour if needed but, if the adventurer hasn't found a weapon and your health has not gone down that much leave the adventurer out there longer. I had a level 10ish now lvl 15 char with high special. I sent him out and I just let him go as long as he still had health. I noticed the adventurer seemed to refill health if it levels while adventuring. On my first adventure I had left him out for 4h 30 mins and he had found one outfit and four weapons. It takes half the time to come back so you might want to recall the adventurer after one weapon just to get started. Then send the adventurer out again. I did find an outfit today after ten minutes so it's probably pretty random.

Yeah, I tried that earlier. I finally found a good weapon from a lunchbox and gave it to my best char. He was gone for about two hours during which the raiders came twice and killed my dwellers again. He came back with a couple outfits and a single gun. Honestly, even if they just upped the drop rate on weapons or something, that would be better.

I also don't see the point in upgrading the vault door.. Yes, it gives you time to stack the vault but the Raiders just end up running to another room anyway. Then you have to manually chase them.

Upgrading the room delays them and allows you to get ready. The raiders run from the first room to the next. Put two people in the Vault Entrance with your best guns. Then put people in the next room with guns. Then when they move to the next room you are already ready to go. If you only have three people with guns then put two in the Vault Entrance and one in the next room so you have a head start while you move chase them.

I found the best strategy is to have the top floor next to the Vault door be the living quarters since it will mostly be empty. Then the floor under the vault should be the power generators. Fill that room with guys and give them all your best weapons.

The Raiders come through your area like reading a book, left to right. Give them hell for the first floor they get to with people. Make sure you have stim packs and rad away to keep them healthy during the fight.
