Am I the only one that noticed....

This game inadvertedly "justifies" Caesar's philosophy and societal structure of Caesar's Legion.

What I mean is, the vault encourages you to have all female dwellers pregnant as often as possible. The vault is at it's most productive when this is the case. But when they're pregnant, they can't address or handle emergencies such as raiders or radroaches, nor can they explore. This means that all combat training is better done on male vault dwellers, and weaponry is better in the hands of a male, simply because a male vault dweller will never see a moment where they're incapable of using it.

Just found that funny, personally. Moment I realized that I thought "wow Caesar would be a really good vault overseer."

Yeah, I noticed this also and thought that they'd probably be better off staying in accommodation whilst pregnant. Although if they did that they'd most likely have an outcry over the way they portray women as only good as baby making factories. It's possibly a bit of a prickly subject.

I thought it was apart of the humor tbh. I guess people would be offended, but personally I'd see the humor in it.

Then again, I was honestly disappointed when I discovered there was no inbreeding or incist in the vault and that characters sharing family names can't breed, cause I was honestly expecting this to be a part of the humor too, what with only ~4 families co-existing for decades. Maybe my brand of humor is a bit extreme for most folks. :P

Well you have to remember that vault-tec was not a 'good' company by any means and that the dwellers are seen as test subjects/cattle/breeding stock in many cases (at least that is the picture FO3 paints).

I noticed that a dweller can have six with his daughters/granddaughters as long as they have their mother's surname. Personally i find it hilarious, but again people might be offended.

not really, i meam it's partly true. i see my vault as more of a 1984(big brother(sister in my case) is watching you)... or a brave new world. where my dwellers no longer have identities outside of their assigned task of waterboy 1, powergirl 2, waitress 3...(i changed their names to organize them easier by task, except my explorers, i gave them the types of names i name my heroes in rpgs, the explorers are the true stars so they are the only one with identities)

eventually, after enough time and training, i can have everyone with 10 on every special stat, having a master race of super clones.(if only we could customize their appearance)

the game does "encourage" having the women pregnant and making babies. especially when you get tasks like "have 7 women pregnant" and "deliver 9 babies"

but if you were to have all the women making babies all the time, you will quickly become overpopulated unable to keep up with resource demands.

plus, the population caps at 200, so at that point, the women no longer need to breed and are free to explore, use weapons, or whatever their heart desire...except there isn't really anything else to do...

It really depends on your outlook. In a vault, I would think that pregnant women would simply be considered very important. The children they're carrying are the potential last hope for humanity, and certainly the future of the vault. Regardless of their physical capabilities, it would make sense to keep them comfortable, healthy and as safe as possible.

Treating them like baby factories isn't a game requirement, it's not even really encouraged. You could easily create monogamous couples, provide the women with comfortable living quarters, education, recreational facilities, all while they participate safely in the work environment.

This is entirely up to the player, as it should with with what is essentially still an RPG. You can't get around the biology, but how you choose to have the characters interact is up to you.

Except they still work, and are treated as equals. It's not exactly a good idea for a pregnant woman to engage in combat in any circumstance, let alone against radioactive insects.

Once your population gets off the ground, there is no longer a significant drive to breed, so it is at worst a momentary inconvenience.

It's by no means certain that the Legion's hatred of women are based on Caesar's views anyway, considering his origins and own interaction with women but rather already existed in the primitive tribes he conquered. He would've had to play to their strengths and desires to form his army, after all.
