How to recover from being in red all the time

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 2:40 am

Hi guys, I can only keep the energy in green. It's been impossible for me to have food and water in green. I'm at 40 people currently and this situation has been going on since 16 people or so. I have no idea how I can fix this.

Tried leveling rooms, didn't really help.

Making more people, didn't change anything either.

Send 16 people to explore on the same time. Still couldn't recover from the red. I have no ideas anymore. Happyness is also 10%. Which probably won't increase because the food and water are so low.

Negative circle where I can't get out?

My biggest recommendation is to expand slowly. I'm not certain for everyone, but I do know that with many of these games where you need to balance out a number of resources like food, water, power, etc. it's best to expand slowly to maintain balance.

I'm currently at 80 workers, two days in maintaining between 90-95% happiness. I expand things as I'm continuously maxing out my resources and make adjustments when individual things start slipping.

Depends on the level of the rooms, the Dwellers' Special stat for that room, outfits equiped, and how much production you have going. Check out http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1521786-enhanced-vault-dwellers-survival-guide/ and the Dwellers sections in my guide. I show what I did for a low level base of about 15 people. I lost two Dwellers but I was able to get things on track. I also link to my Vault that has 33 people. You have 40 see how yours is compared to mine. You probably need two 3 wide power plants, one three wide Cafeteria, and one three wide Water Treatment plant. All three fully upgraded. Then I'd say if that's not enough then you need a two wide Water Treatment plant and a Two wide Cafeteria in addition to what you already have. However, all those rooms and all those people you need guns so you don't get overrun by Radroaches. It's hard to find a good balance keep at it.

Assigning people with the right stats to the right rooms makes a HUGE and i mean it HUGE difference in how much you gain.. always try to equipt people in the rooms with appropriate stat boosting outfits to make sure productivity is high.. assigning someone to a room who has low stats for that room doesnt do alot of good.

I have around 40 people now too and im all in the green now.. it dipped into the red on all 3 and i moved people around into appropriate rooms when before i was just filling rooms to max because i was gaining so many new people i didn't want to bother with assigning them to correct rooms.. the second i all put them into rooms they are best at and started stat training people the entire situation changed without any upgrades to the rooms at all.. it makes a massive difference if they are in stat appropriate rooms.

i find it frustrating because the resources seem to drain way too fast. i have 50 people and i have max storage of 3100 power, 925 food, 1500 water. i have

2 large diners and 2 medium, and they are able to sustain my population..

however, i have like 8 water rooms and the water drains twice as fast as the food.

i'm suspicious that it drain water when you fight fires. i usually have to fight several fires in a sitting because i try to rush production so much.

the only way to keep up is to constantly rush production

and i have 15+ power rooms i lost count, i just keep building more and more. i've seen my power drain 500 units in just a few minutes.

i have a skeleton crew, i have just 1 person in each room. i exit the game and come back every half hour, collect the resource and try to rush each room at east once or twice.

rushing is so frustrating because even at 8-16% i seem to fail a lot. i managed to get a +7 formal suit and i pass it between each room it makes me fail less often.

i seem to be at an equilibrium, my energy hovers around 1800/3100 my food hovers around 700/900 and my water is at 1200/1500. always in the green.

it seems like the resources drain faster when you are playing the game than they do when away. i wonder if it's a tactic to push you away from the game...like the energy timer most freemiums have, you use up your energy then you have to go away for a while. in this, if you get in there grab the resource then go away, you use less resources and you can fill everyhting up that way but then you don't get to play the game. is resources draining faster their way of "punishing" you for staying in too long? and of course, whenever i get ahead, raiders come in, and my flamethrowers kill them in the entry way but not before they steal 200 of every resource, undoing all my work.

i remember early on, i had everyone breeding like rabbits. i had 6 pregnant women, they had the babies, then i made 10 more pregnant women.

i exploded from 20 to 36 in about 9 hours and suddenly all the vertical limes on my resource bars went all the way to the right and i was always in the red. i had to stop breeding and start expanding, i built diners and water, but that needed power, i built more power.

until the lines moved most of the way to the left. but the power demand is still about 40%

you can have 2 people in each square of a room, but each room can only sustain half that.

edit: i just counted.

I currently have 23 production rooms, covering 58 squares.i would need 116 dwellers to fill up all my rooms, but they barely sustain my 50 at an equilibrium.

@Femaiden

Try to train all your people to the max. So you train power station people to max their S. Etc.

I just barely got to 40 people and I'm doing fine. To check how mcuh resources you have and your capacity tap the resource bar at the http://i.imgur.com/vC3mwUR.jpg. I'm doing fine with 40 people and those ammounts.

Making more people definitely changed something; It made it worse. The less people you have, the lower the food and water requirement.

With resource rooms, upgrading them will increase the the amount they make, but not by much.

Merging the rooms will make them operate faster, but not by much.

Dwellers with better stats will make them operate faster by A LOT. (And you can boost their stats with the right armor, or train them)

Basically a good chef in a crappy small kitchen is better than six crappy chefs in a nice big kitchen, because a good chef cooks more and eats less. It's important to remember that dwellers are THE MOST EXPENSIVE way to improve a room, because they add to your food and water costs as long as they're alive.

I found with my first vault that instead of upgrading my rooms I had built a ton of power rooms which could not sustain my vault. Now I have 1 fully upgraded power, water and dining room and I'm able to keep everything full with 22 peeps. Upgrade your rooms is my advice

My vault 404 was in a bad way.

18 dwellers, all irradiated and morale at 10%.

I booted 10 of them into the wasteland without weapons or outfits, to die.

The remaining 8 settled in, in pairs to Power/Water/Dining & RadAway production.

Excess rooms were all destroyed.

Resources are now back up, radiation is well on the way to being cured and morale is up to 60%.

In short, you have to prune back to stabilise before you can move forward again.

I hope to revive the 10 fallen over time.
