PLEASE Fix The Overpowered Radroaches!

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 5:00 am

I had dealt with 30-40 rad roach infestations up to this point (easily)and I was done with another very quickly and when I tapped out to full screen mode I had an unannounced infestation in a diner that had all but 1 single roach remaining..I lost 15 players that were equipped with everything from rifles, enhanced shotguns and even rocket launchers (lvl 24+ characters) for more than 20 minutes dumping ammo on this single roach and nothing..he jus kept killing my characters as I ran through my stimpak supply..no way you can tell me that this wasn't way over-powered..not even realistic within the rules of the game..very little information regarding invaders and they're power levels..how do you expect players to know? At best it's a massive oversight

Its great you brought this up, cause that is bassically how I lost my 33 dwellers to only having 7, one radroach would not die and kept killing my people, then as if hte game wanted to rub it in my face I get on the next day and the bodies disappearred on there own.

i'm not sure, but i think someome said in another thread, that if your guys all die, you can choose to dismiss them and the game immediatley sends in a replace, ent for free, as if you called them with the radio..

i have not comfirmed this because i am reluctant to dismiss anyone as i spent hours upon hours training their stats, but it's possible that if you get wiped, all may mot be lost. and all you really lose is time.

i agree, there should not be a way to truly "fail", especially if you paid money and the lunchboxes are tied to that particular vault.

the only advice i can give is don't let the roaches spread. you need to act fast, even if you send just one guy in there to delay them, until you get your strong guys in there, they really don't become "murder" roaches until they spread to the new rooms.

someone also had the strategy of unequipping your strongest weapons, leaving them in your inventory and then passing them aroind to whoever is fighting roaches at the time. this way you always have the best possible weapons. in my second vault, i have a rusty flame 15 and a combat shotgun 12-14 and those are enough, 2 guys can clear an x3 sized room by themselves

i wonder if the 1 roach that won't die is a glitch...are you trying to fight it bare handed? and if you are minimizing the game and still getting roach attacks, that means you did not log out. you need to hit the gears i the lower right and open the optins and go mpback to the maim ke u, or

doible click the home button on your ipad then swipe up on the screenshot for the app to completely close out of the game. that way it puts your vault in "hibernate" mode, using very little resources and protecting you from incidents

you know what would be hilarious, if in Fallout 4 they had the "wild wasteland" trait again and one of the "easter egg" encounters would be with a super powered radroach that just won't die. and the game would call it the "murder roach".

it would be a reference to this game and only the people who were on here would get the reference..and the game could have a backstory about the "murder roaches" wiping out whole vaults or something

This is not an RPG though. This is a Sim.

Yeah that would be funny, lol be hilarious if it was the reason your character is the sole survivor of vault 111. XD

No all my people had guns even a lazer pistol thrown in there, but the radroach didn't die and since it lived the infestation spread and started killing people in multiple rooms only reason i wasnt wiped out from that was i had like 4 and 3 dwellers in the wasteland.

I don't really even have that much of a problem with a vault failing but there should be precautions that a player can take and this also fits into the nature of the game. As for this type of failure, where honestly and truly I don't believe there was anything I could do to stop it, I don't see how any developer would want this type of game killing aspect, unless only to get players to coin..and eventually quit out of frustration and spite..not a good outcome and you can expect players to take to iTunes with very unfavorable ratings and backlash..

Exactly my thoughts. To have a catastrophic ending were the only valid recourse is to have to spend money is not right. I wonder if Bethesda even reads these forums. Though frustrating, completely destroy my vault with overpowered enemies. Just don't hold me hostage with having to spend more real coin to restart my mature vault.

So, anyone still having problems with runaway radroaches? I've never had that problem myself, but just toying around with a new vault, I present the perfect solution:

Don't build rooms next to each other. Build them like this:

Entrance - Living Quarters

Powerplant - EMPTY

EMPTY - Cafeteria

Water - EMPTY

See what I did there?

No matter which room the radroaches surface in, they'll never spread.

Sure, it costs a bit more in elevators, but they are cheap as hell.

When you get enough weapons and trained dwellers, you can fill up the spaces at your own pace.

(I have confirmed that this works.)

To top it off it looks like my dead dwellers are disappearing one by one. Either decomposing or the rats are eating them.

I just lost 34 of my 37 fully equipped dwellers to a devestating radroach invasion. I tried my best to bring them back but after two days I only had 20 dwellers and the rest disappeared. 14 souls lost to a game breaking bug. Now I've been breeding like mad to replace them but I'm terrified to open the app for more than 10 seconds at a time in case the super radroaches return.
