Immortal Radroach bug

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 10:36 am

Today I had a Radroach Infestation incident in my power plant, there were six dwellers in there at full health, most of them armed. They all died. I moved all the dwellers from my water treatment plant and restaurant, most of them were armed, they all died. There was only a single Radroach remaining but it can't be killed and it seems to do a lot of damage. At this point I can't continue playing because I can't kill the Radroach to end the incident and Radroaches now infest the entire vault and I'll probably have to start over.

This is a game-breaking bug, I hope it can be fixed soon.

Thre's a couple of Reddit threads about this too, some people say it's a bug (I think it is), others just think Radroachs are too strong in general. I think it's a bug because every infestation I'd had up until this one had been cleaned up comfortably, but this infestation, one Radroach simply couldn't be killed.

The same thing just happened to me. I lost 4 of my 6 power room workers, all of whom were armed. Never before have I had a problem with the rad roaches.

The rad roaches are WAY out of control. I'm thinking about shelving the game until they implement a solution.

Hmm... I had been calling the rather OP'd radroaches in general the "Murder Roach", but perhaps this (which has to be a glitch) could be the definitive "Murder Roach"? Coin it, done.

Actually I'm not sure any more as this hasn't happened to me again since this one incident. Perhaps it's just that Radroaches are really strong early-on in the game, every time I get an infestation now I make sure to have the maximum number of armed dwellers in the room asap and zoom-in to Stimpack them as soon as they drop to half health, seems to work fine.

It has to be a bug. I've run into infestations with tough bugs and this was not the same thing. This one, single radroach was invincible wiped out 21 of my dwellers and wouldn't attack one that had just returned from the wasteland. Then after like 10 minutes it just disappeared. Left me with one dweller. I'm done playing til it's patched.

This game is way too buggy to be even at V1.0. Even these forums feel sort of "incomplete". I'm not even able to insert a frowny.

The roaches are a bit OP. Be ready with stimpacks. I had also got a guided missile launcher from a lunchbox. I keep that in my inventory and then give it to some one in the infested room to clear out the roaches fast. I suggest keeping your most powerful weapon on hand to equip when the roaches strike.

Now the invincible roach hasn't happened to me yet but it has happened to a friend. It is a very real glitch that needs addressing.

As for this game being to buggy to play, that's just BS. For a new V1.0. Game Fallout Shelter is beautifully balanced and just stunning to look at. For a V1.0. The bugs are minor. I just wish it was optimized a bit more for older devices.

I had this happen to me too. I lost 40 of my 47 dwellers in one go. However, what happened right before was possibly related.

I had left the game for about 20 minutes and had all 3 bars completely full. When I came back power and food were under 10% butwater was still at 90%. Most of my production, including my diner was shut down at this point and my population was all half dead

So, I said "Oh Schnikey" and started a rush on for more power.

And then an invincible roach infestation hit and knocked out the first 20 workers, all armed.

I recalled my explorers and shut down then game for a bit before coming back. I started it back up once I had everyone back to help. This is when the infestation spread to the rest of the vault and killed the next 20 before I got them under control.

End result, I had enough caps to revive 10 dwellers (in the low teens for level) and had no power, water or food and 10% happiness. On the upside I had enough armour and guns for everyone left. :yuck:

I sure wish they offered some way of getting support on this.

I'd like to thank the folks at Bethesda for a great game for the most part--that being said I'm afraid I'm just at the start of one of these invincible roach infestations. I just purchased a lunchbox for each of my 3 save files for the heck of it yesterday, but then this... this will destroy me if I'm right

I think you guys should give (multiple?) free lunch boxes away to users affected by this, especially forum posters. It's not that $.99 a pop is all that much money but ya gotta give us *something* after spending real money and real time in playing your game faithfully enough to spend the time writing in the forums about it. Like I said, I think it's great for the most part! I just hope this gets patched and that Bethesda takes this opportunity to show quality customer care.

As a follow up here are the exact steps I took prior to the diety-roach problem, as well as what it looks like now:

- Left app open over night, opened to affected vault save file (Vault 7)

- Gathered resources, noted levels as just green

- Randomly-generated rad roach infestation occurs

- Armed all dwellers

- Watched all but one roach die, couple of dweller deaths

- Watched last roach continue to kill remaining 5 or 6 dwellers, fully armed with 5-6 damage weapons I believe

- Immediately exited, left running in background

- Got on this forum

** Update **

- Opened app approx 15 min ago

- Saw remaining roach

- Rearmed dwellers

- Roach infestation spread to multiple rooms

- Original roach died or disappeared???

- Killed all remaining roaches

So my conclusion would be either:

A) The bug that causes the bad bugs to be invincible corrects when app is restarted -- or

B) The roaches are just way way way way way way too tough.

If someone from Bethesda could comment here, even without free things, it'd be swell!

I've noticed with roaches and fires that when they spread, the original room dies down and cannot be spread to. And also when the disaster reaches a dead end, it will eventually die down and things will get back to normal. I have done this a few times.

Sounds like it could just be extremely clunky game mechanics, then... Went from a B+ to D- in half of a day. That's lame.
