Question about stats over 10

Do stats count after maxing them out? For example if a Dweller has 10 S and a suit gives him +3 does it matter above 10?

I don't believe so.

From what it appears, as long as their stat reaches 10 with an outfit, they're capped even if it's 7 base and +3 for a piece of gear. Though, ideally you want to train your dwellers to be maxed in everything but I personally will be focusing on strength, endurance, and luck for Nuka Cola factories, Nuclear power plants and exploring af first.

actually, it does affect you. it is possible to go past the cap of 10. I have confirmed this. i trained some of my guys to 10 STR, 10 PER, 10 AGI and 10 luck.

the str, per, and agi guys, the higherf your stat, the shorter the production timers. when i take my 10 stat guy wearing a vault suit and put them in a production room, i can see how much time is left on the clock. when i equip a + 3 outfit on top of the 10, the timer immediately gets shortened some more.

the luck is more subtle, but its potentially gamebreaking.

i have a +7 lucky formal suit. i have some 10 luck guys. when i go to do a room rush, their first rush is only like 4%. when i equip the suit, the room rush failure drops to 0% for a free room rush! and then the next one raises up to 4%, and the next rush after that is 14%

i could potentially room rush every room 3 times with very little risk. the reward is small, but sometimes another luck boost kicks in, causing them to collect an addition 300-500 caps on top of the 14 they get for the low risk reward.

TL:DR

bottom line, you can raise stats above 10 and get additional effect from it, however, the game will only display you as having 10 even with an outfit on, it says 10, but you are getting more effect. a 10 strength with a +3 military outfit is more effective than a 10 strength in a vault suit.

now...in the "real" fallout games, the stats are capped at 10, even if you somehow were to raise it past 10(with chems most likely) it stays capped at 10 which is probably what people are assuming for this game.

That's good to know. I've been looking forward to maxing out primary stats, then luck to see how crazy luck gets for both exploring and rushing jobs for overall cap generation. It takes time to train of course, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it works.

i suspect luck is the most important stat, but i discovered that the production stats are important too, if your stats are too low, your resources drain much faster. you need to have very high stats to slow down the resource drain. this is different from production. high stats will make you produce faster, but there is also a drain. if you sit in the game, your resources constantly get consumed at a fast rate but the higher the stats are on your production guys, the more slowly the resources get consumed.

i was getting very frustrated at first, because i put all my high strength guys in training and had only 2's and 3's in my power plants and i was producing hundreds of power every few minutes but it was draining faster than i could produce and i kept adding more and more power plants, which then forced me to devote more dwellers to running them... as soon as i put my high strength guys back in the rooms, the drain slowed down to a managable level. i have an equilibrium at about half full and the power demand line is at the 30% mark, so i'm pretty comfortable right now, although i would feel better if i was able to keep the bar fully green

Yeah, I agree with everything you said and also went through the same thing. Putting my highest stat guys into training initially was the hardest but after that it's not so bad.

now whether its intended or just a bug, i dunno...i have a guy with maxed luck and when i put the lucky formal suit +7 on him, he can room rush twice for 0% failure, then 10,20,30,40,50 and then after 50, it actually drops back down to 40 then goes to 50 then drops to 40,50,40.

i'm not complaining lol.
