Which SPECIAL Affects Adventuring?

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 4:58 pm

Which SPECIAL attributes affect a dweller you send out into the wasteland?

I read that luck increases loot finding, but what about strength, endurance, charisma, etc etc?

Does level affect anything at all? I think level increases health but I'm not sure if it means anything once you send them out.

According to the hints onthe loading screen, all SPECIAL attributes affect your explorers.

In my experience, the level count affects HP.

Endurance: Affects how long they can stay alive.

Luck: Affects how quickly you find stuff.

Those are the two important ones.

I have a feeling that maybe Strength and Agility factor in determining odds of winning in a fight against a wasteland critter, Charisma has the chance of more friendly encounters (maybe even sending a new potential dweller to the Vault)... what would Perception and Intelligence affect?

I believe perception increases the shooting skill. So I am trying to boost that skill particularly by comparing to strenght (my characters with higher strenght didn't make much difference in wasteland encounters)

Also I believe agility is for dodging from the attacks. Charisma is for Merchant or Friendly Ghoul encounters. I don't know what Intelligence is for in those quests..

Injured slave person encounters.

But honestly, if you do nothing else, raise if not max your explorer's luck and endurance stats. Those are the two most important ones. Anything else is secondary.

Nope. Endurance is needed for the Nuka cola plant. ALL stats are equally important when going into the wastes. According to the hint showed on the loading screen, that is. The level seems to affect how often stims are used.

There is no such information. Level gives Dweller HP, that means he can survive longer. Stimpack recovers same amount % of HP for 1 lvl Dweller and for 50. Put your lowest and highest dwellers to same room and rush until you see radroaches, and take a closer look how your Dwellers lose HP, you will see that the lower level the less HP he has, and Stimpacks recovers same % of HP.

"The level seems to affect how often stims are used. " And how exactly is this different from what you said?

"
ALL stats are important when going into the wastes." This is the literal text shown in the loading menu.

Of-course all, because they all affect your dwellers journey. BUT if you want to find more weapons/outfits/caps which are most important at start you need to focus on Luck/Endurance.

"The level seems to affect how often stims are used." - Level affects HP but not how often stims are used , if you have good Endurance you will survive longer because you will receive less damage, if you have low strength and/or low weapon your dwellers won't fight and you will receive more damage. Luck affects how often you can get caps/weapons/outfits and maybe common/rare/legendary. Yesterday my dweller with 10 luck in 2H and some minutes found a rare weapon 15+ damage, in the evening i will post image.

Well this is at least what i feel and see.

Just because all the stats are used in some way doesn't mean they're all equally important.

On top of that, just because it says that on the hint screen doesn't mean it's that way in practice.

Yeah, you make an awful lot assumptions. That much was already clear to me.

Just because it says on the hint screen is a much more credible source than someone randomly shouting that "endurance has to be the main stat because it has no other function" (other than the much more plausible function of optimising the Nuka plant, which he doesn't mention because HE thinks that the Nuka plant is overrated)

Survive Longer + chance to Find more items = Endurance + Luck. I don't want to argue :).

Just send 2x2 dwellers to wasteland, 2 with hight E+L, and 2 with I+C, and you will see who will bring more caps and other stuff, and who will survive longer.

I already send out 2x2 dwellers. One level 25 and the other level 10 but with equel E, stims and radaways.

Needless to say, the level 10 dwellers didn't last very long.

Yep low level with bad gun don't go much :) even if you equip with best gear it's still hard to go further. His HP is too low to progress.

I think Luck is only contributing to find more Caps, until now my dwellers didn't encounter any rare items while they have High Luck. But my newcomer dwellers who I sent them naked to prove themselves worthy in the wastes (they didn't receive any training in Vault) found some rare items, even one of them found a Hardened Minigun with 19-22 attack. :)

Just for kicks I sent a new dweller out to see how long he would last in a vault suit with no weapon. 24 minutes. :D
