Endless crashing after update 1.3

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:22 pm

First things first:

  • What phone/tablet model are you using? --- Ipod, 5th gen

  • What OS are you currently running (including version #) --- iOS 9.1 (13B143)

  • Did you delete the game and reinstall it, or just update over the old build? --- App Store update first, then delete/reinstall

  • If you updated, did you manually update it, or allow the store to auto-update it? --- Manually

The game has been very crashy for me since I started playing -- I'm guessing >10 crashes per day -- but for the most part I could at least play it so long as I didn't mind having to reload it a lot.

So I was pretty excited to see the v1.3 update, figuring that like most app updates it would include "stability improvements" or what have you. But now I can't load either of my saved Vaults at all. Well, OK, I did manage to load one of them for about thirty seconds -- tapped on a few resources, showed my wife how it's now snowing in the Wasteland, and then it crashed, and I haven't been able to load either vault since.

Having pets in the vault sounds cool, but I'd rather just be able to play the game. I have at least one dweller who's been out in the Wasteland for nearly two days, and was down to her last two stimpacks when I updated. I'm expecting she's probably going to die out there.

Any chance of a li'l help with this, Bethesda?

Hi there.

Have you restarted your phone since getting the 1.3 update?

Edit: It's worth noting that the 5th generation iPod touch is not officially supported for Fallout Shelter.

Hi. I tried a full power-down/restart a couple of times and it didn't help.

I also checked the App Store to see if I was missing anything with regard to requirements. The App Store says:

"Requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch."

Where should I have seen the warning that only the very latest iPod touch is required? And perhaps more to the point, why was I able to play FS before the update, but not after?

Hello.

There is an issue that makes the game unplayable since it is constantly crashing when I try to load a vault from iCloud. After the "welcome to game center banner" the game pops you out to the home screen. There is no problem with new vaults though.

I run the 1.3 version on an iPhone 6S Plus 128gb, with iOS 9.2. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game after the update, hard resetting the device and turning on - off the icloud drive toggle in settings nothing seems to work. Please consider, our dwellers are out in the wasteland they will be dying soon!!! ??

P.S: The same iCloud vault also doesn't load on my iPad 3.

I am having the exact same problem. The game crashes after a few seconds after the game loading screen. The game exits and I'm back to the home screen on my iPhone. I Start the app, select the vault and same thing over and over again, keeps crashing after the game's loading screen and my Mr. Handys' clean up a few rooms. I have 155 dwellers, 39 rooms. 999,999 caps.

I am able to load another vault that I've not played for over a month, 11/3. It has 17 dwellers and 6 rooms. I can create a new vault. I cannot load the vault that I've been playing daily with a lot invested into it.

I've had this game for about 3 months now an not had any crashes at all. Never a problem. My phone auto updated the app 4 days ago, 12/9. I've been playing it daily and not had a problem until today 12/13. I have the exact same specs, The app is 1.3 version on an iPhone 6S Plus 128gb, with iOS 9.2.

Same problem. I've played 380 hours over the past 3 months. I play on iPhone 6 with latest OS. After the 12/13 auto update to Ver. 1.3 my survival mode vault loaded fine for one long gaming session. When I reopened, the game crashed within 1 minute. Then 5 seconds. The next time, the game wouldn't load at all before crashing.

Here are some possible issues triggering the crash. Survival mode. I have a Mr. Handy in the Wasteland. I have a dog accompanying one of my dwellers returning from the wasteland. Eight dwellers had just given birth. 150 dwellers. 52 rooms. 100k in caps. Approximately 15 dwellers n the wasteland. Had not saved to cloud.

Two problems with game.

iPad Air 2, iOS9.1

The first issue I am having is what is the limit to the number of dwellers I can send to the wasteland before the game crashes? I sent about 8 out one time (I don't remember seeing a limit anywhere) and eventually had to delete that vault, as I was unable to every look at the wasteland again without the game crashing.

My current issue is my dwellers think there is a dead body in my perception training room. it is fully upgraded, and visually there is no body present to click on and get rid of. Everytime I assign a dweller to the room, they make comments about the smell, and how working next to a dead body is not good for morale.

I have done hard reboots of the iPAD and the game, but the dwellers persist in their complaints.

Please advise.

I'm having the exact same problem as the OP, things were unstable though somewhat manageable before the update but now the game is completely unplayable and freezes moments after loading my save :(. Here's the link to my problem: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1572516-game-unplayable-on-the-ipad-2-after-13-patch/

Perhaps the iPod Pro isn't on the list of "officially supported" devices.

Not sure where this list is maintained -- other than to note that it's definitely NOT on the App Store -- but I get the sense that one must check it before complaining that one cannot even play the game anymore.

FWIW, I deleted all of my vaults today. Not because I wish to be cruel and indifferent to dwellers THAT I PERSONALLY NAMED, but just in the hope that it might help fix this.

Why doesn't gamesas just delete the molerat quest in a patch as a quick fix. Seems simple enough.

I'm having the same issue. I can't access my vault, the game constantly crashes out during the loading process. I'm playing on an iPad 2 (which was supported last time I checked), version 1.3 of the game, iOS version 9.2. Getting pretty annoyed with the poor response from Bethesda. And yes I've tried restarting my iPad.

On a related note, some kind of response from Bethesda - ANY kind of response from Bethesda - would be really nice. A simple "hey guys, we hear you, we're really sorry and we're working on it" would go a long way. The utter silence just makes me think they don't care how they're perceived. That's fine. I'll give it another week, and then I'll get my money back from Apple, never buy another Bethesda product and join the legions of gamers who consider them a toxic waste of time. Way to go, Bethesda PR guys.

Same problem. Crashing when enter the vault just after game center notification.

Playing on iPad 3 and iPhone 5s
Game version 1.3

I purchased 5 mr. Handy and would be good to keep them.

Will it be any answer from Bethesda?

iPhone 6s - 128gb - iOS version 9.2.1

iPad Mini 4 - 16GB (2.9GB available) - also at 9.2.1

I've had the crashing problem since the last update and had two of my three vaults be completely unplayable. One I was able to access long enough to select a few things, but the other crashes immediately. The update came out in early December and it is distressing that it has taken this long to fix it. I, personally, would rather they just roll it back until they can fix it.

But:

I managed to get one of my two bad vaults working today by doing the "mole rat" fix. I was able to load the vault, quickly access the rewards page, and delete the mole rat task. I immediately exited to the main menu then went right back in. As soon as I was able to get in I removed all pets from the vault and put them in storage. I also removed all Level 50 dwellers (except one that is 2 days out) from the Wasteland. It has now been 3 hours and I seem to have control. Will it last? I am going to back it up to cloud and try to slowly put in pets to see if I can use them again.

Bethesda - please, either fix it or roll it back so we can play until it is ready to go.

- Set the time some hours before the crash happened

- Start the game

- The vault loads. After this, I skip the mission i think i was getting problems, which was "send 14 dweller to the wasteland" or 52lvl+ dweller

- Save the game by exitting the game

- Set the time normal again

- The vault loads and everything seems to work fine.

Thank you Rguedes85.

I tried that on the third vault and it is a no-go. The crash happened at 9:14 AM on January 12th. I have moved the device time back by 3 hours, 6 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 5 days, and no success. I simply cannot get that vault to load. As soon as the Gamecenter Welcome pops up the entire app crashes.

But, the one i managed to recover this morning seems to be humming along nicely.

I'm using an iPad mini 2 with iOS 9.2.1 and I have 152 Dwellers. I manually update the app and now I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it all to be met with my iPad home screen after 8 seconds. I also have another smaller vault that doesn't seem to have that problem where I am still able to play but it would be such a loss to give up on my main vault. I also thought it was the fact the I had two couples going in back at the same time but before crashing I was able to separate them and it still crashed.

iPhone 6s. iOS 9.2. Game version 1.3. Tried restarting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, everything. I manually updated it.

My game worked perfectly fine for about a month before it started crashing every time I got the Game Center banner. Any news from developers yet? Are you going to fix the problem that people have had for a month and a half?
