Trying to restore and sync vaults via cloud

When I got my new iPad Air 2, I used my iCloud backup from my iPhone 6s to add fallout shelter. It pulled in my vaults correctly, but I soon realized that my iPad shelter was out of sync with my iPhone version (I primarily play on my iPhone 6S). But I at least still had my vaults on my iPad at that point. I got an error when I checked the cloud box and tried to sync. Thinking it would pull in the correct data if I deleted the app and reinstalled it, I went that route. Now I don't have any vaults on my iPad but still have them in my iPhone. I tried opening via Game Center on my iPad, which didn't work. So I made new dummy vaults in the same order with the same vault numbers, and then checked the cloud box thinking perhaps it would pull in the up to date cloud data for each. I got the same error as when I originally tried to check the cloud box on my vaults when I actually had the vaults but they were out of sync.


I keep getting the same error no matter what I try: "an error occurred during cloud activation. Please check your cloud settings or try again later."


The help instructions on this topic don't work.

However, I am rookie and would like to try to solve my issue with any help instructions on this topic first.
