WI-FI possible caulprit of Gamebreaking Crashes (testing)

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 6:34 pm

My 5th Play through and reinstall, this time playing with WiFi off.

Running:

iPad Air 2

iOS 8.3

I'm now currently up to 80+ Dwellers now. Game is still progressing.

so far the game crashed on me once, but I was able to restart the game with my vault intact, which was a suprise.

Normally, the crashes have happend when I've had between 20-40 dwellers, with WiFi on.

(I've noticed the frequent issues when connected to my home WiFi network for instance,

then taking the iPad away from the local network (being at work), playing with no connection then coming back home with a connection.)

If anyone else is willing to put this to the test, let me know!

I now have 101 dwellers now.

The game is still running like silk on the iPad Air 2.

Finally got to experience having a Nuka-Cola Plant.

So far the key factor with no crashing is having the Wi-Fi being turned off on the iPad.

I can safely say I now have 110 dwellers. Game hasn't crashed. (like it always did before)

WiFi is still turned off.

Lets see if I can keep going.

iPhone 6

iOS 8.3

I've borked my install of FS twice now. Both happened at the same airport, shortly after entering two separate times. I believe the first time happened immediately after attempting to connect to the airport's WiFi. And the second time happened the first time I opened the app after returning to the airport (after my phone automatically tried to connect to the WiFi). The WiFi at the airport is the portal-access type - if you're not currently connected, you get redirected to a portal page. I'm pretty sure both borks happened before I'd done the portal process, so maybe the redirect is responsible for the borking?

Bork: the app crashes to the iOS home screen, then all further attempts to open the app result in the initial loading screen crashing out to the home screen.

Fix: delete the app (and the baby goes out with that bathwater) and reinstall.

I'm playing always with WiFi On and had no problems at all on my iPad Air 2. 170+ Dwellers at the moment. 0 Crashes. :) Maybe bad Wi-Fi connection is game braking?

Bad connection, or just WiFi hopping in general causes crashes. I'm pretty sure most people are playing this on the go. Taking it over to a friends/family's with another WiFi connection.

Well i can confirm connecting to WIFI with no internet does perma-crash the game...

I've played from the start with data roaming disabled, as I do woth all my apps. Disabling the Wifi doesn;t solve anything, sadly.
