Deathclaw after Deathclaw attack

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:38 pm

Over the last 3 weeks I've played probably close to 2 hours total (real time), and in that time I've had 13 deathclaw attacks. I think it may have started because I exited the app during an attack, and somehow it became a loop. I defeat the deathclaws, then no more than 2-5 minutes later I get another attack. I haven't seen any raiders since I saw my first deathclaws. A friend of mine has the iOS app and he has never seen a deathclaw attack.

There needs to be an update where any vault door guards chase the intruders (raiders, deathclaws, etc) throughout the vault, or even an alert status where weapon-wielding dwellers in surrounding rooms call to arms.

I have almost 20 dead dwellers right now, as soon as I heal or revive some, another attack comes. This is ridiculous. Please help!

To be fair, I probably expanded too quickly - I was at 100% happiness once upon a time, this morning I was down to single digits. I have 62 rooms over 9 levels with 128 dwellers. 1175 Power / 775 Food / 650 Water. I have outfits and weapons for 90% of my dwellers. I have a mini fat man launcher and a gatling laser equipped on my two vault door guards, with the adjoining room assigned with dwellers using gauss rifles, enhanced hunting rifles, etc. Still, everyone dies very quickly. I can't distribute Stimpaks quickly enough. There should be a way to distribute a set amount of stimpaks/radaways to the most needy in the vault.

I suppose I'm lucky I haven't seen Deathclaw attacks come that frequently, then again I only have 64 dwellers. (60 sure was a rude awakening!)

Sounds like you have enough firepower, just need to reduce your risk and put sturdier dwellers up there. Empty your radio room. Don't open the vault for anybody. Shuffle all your high Endurance dwellers up to the top two floors, and clothe them in Wasteland Gear to maximize their endurance. Best of luck to you.

I've found that initiating an incident right before letting dwellers in/out greatly reduces the chance of getting attacked. Then again, mole rats aren't cool, either.

There are three cases when DCs could attack: Radio broadcast, Opening the vault door, random incident (like raider attack). If you played only two hours of real time in three weeks, it probably means that you log in, collect everything (including radio room -> one chance), let dwellers in / out (so you open doors multiple times -> multple chances) and the random attack could happen randomly :) There are more strategies how to defend against deathclaws and it is totally managable. In my primary vault deathclaws do not even get to the second floor. Most important is having high-level dwellers with best weapons on the top floor and if possible, having their endurance maxed at first level (thy gain more HP when leveling, based on endurance). You can find topic about it in this forum too. Good luck!

That's exactly what I did - I'd play here and there and have new wastelanders come in every single time I played. I had no idea! I fully staffed my radio room(s) with dwellers because it kept morale up, but holy crap now I'll empty them immediately. It's a shame, I have probably 10 dwellers with a charisma level of 8+ (counting outfits). Thanks all! It was my radio room(s)!

What I found works best for me....

- Radio room is ok (for morale), just don't tap to bring in a new guy unless you're ready for potential deathclaw.

- Only have a couple of people in the wasteland rather than sending 10 people out... that 10 to come back, 10 to send out again, lots of deathclaw risk.

- Your dweller life is determined by level more than anything and guys don't level up sitting in the vault entrance, keep cycling your highest level guys here. Endurance skill doesn't appear to make much difference.

Oh contrare friend, I cycle one of my vault door guys in and out depending on the SPECIAL room dweller learning, but the other door guard is a special character who hasn't left the door and is at level 43. Killing deathclaws must give out tons of xp. haha. I usually only have 1-3 dwellers exploring, and if they go out I do it all at once, and they all come back at once. One thing I have noticed is that the higher luck dwellers have a much better collection rate - especially for rare weapons and outfits.
