I recently bought a Ipad Mini and started playing Fallout Shelter its been running ok with a few crashes here and there nothing serious as I could just load it back up and carry on my day, but starting today I just hit 46 Dwellers and now every time I try opening that vault it crashes back to the main screen.

I made a new vault to see if it may just be my Ipad but that one loads up fine..

I don't know what to do?

Is anyone else having this issue?

and does anyone know if or when there will be a new update?

Starting yesterday, I have had the same problem. I,too, created a new vault to see if it was the whole game. The new one loads fine but the older one just crashes the app every time I try to open it. Frustrating , because I had gotten so far in the game! I won't play anymore if they don't fix it. If it is just going to crash when I progress, why bother???!

I agree... I was very happy with my vault and I even decided to buy Lunchboxes just for some fun and to see if I can get some cool things so I spent ￡30 on lunch boxes and it wont open so I have a vault that was running pretty well 3 dwellers out in the wasteland probably dead... and 50 lunchboxes stuck on a broken vault =/ I want it to be fixed because I was happy with that vault and had gotten some pretty good things from the lunchboxes I have opened... so I am hoping for an update or a fix soon or ill just have to call up and get a refund.. that I don't really want I just want my vault back lol.

I have had 2 vaults now that crash as soon as they got to 35 dwellers. 1 I did waste money on lunch boxes and got some cool things. I'm going to try a 3rd time and see if it crashes at the some number of inhabitants. I also think I'm going to have to call for a refund.

my 2nd vault just started doing the same thing.. =/ but this time at 53 dwellers D: im on my 3rd one now too... to see how far I get but im going to wait for my refund till after the 13th August when they have the Andriod one version coming out so I assume there will be a patch then and hopefully it will fix the issue. (I am really hoping it does..)

i had the problem, started over, and now i haven't been able to log on for 2 days and trying a LOT to log in! this is VERY frustrating.

Not sure but I think the iPad 2, iPhone 4S and iPad Mini are all ones that aren't supported. I tried it with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S and both of them had the very same experience to the OP. Got an iPad Air 2 and not a single crash.

It may sound annoying but try using this app called "ES File Explorer"

I've just been copying and pasting the game file to backups as a safe guard just in case. I recently restarted my vault also and yes I had made previous purchases also. So far using this app has worked for me

Started playing about a month ago, got a great vault going to about 150 dwellers started crashing and freezing, was using an iPad version one so I checked the supported devices and saw it was too old to be supported so I went out and bought a 64 gb wifi iPad air2 tried to play my large vault and got the same freezing crashing result. Deleted the offending vault and started a new one waiting to see if this one crashes on the new device. Bethesda needs to make a patch for all these iOS devices if they want people to still use this game. A lot of people on here do not state what kind of device they are using

iphone 5s and yes BETHESDA is an embarrassment (no response to anybody having issues) and FS is an absolute failure to the majority of us who spent months only to have a stupid bug corrupt our vault save. If you were wise enough to not update your ios then you may be one of the few who can play without too much worry but to start a new vault only to know its end will result in a bug is a FAILURE! To not here from the company taking money from you, not fixing the bugs and not responding to their frustrated clients...FAILURE!

Just encountered this problem. I'm on iPhone 6, iOS 8.3. It's really disheartening too. I've been playing since day one but have purposely kept my vault small. I got up to 180 dwellers before update, but decided it was too chaotic. Trimmed it down to 40, leveled them all to 50, and trained all their skills. I decided I wanted to try my hand at defeating the infamous deathclaws, so I had a lot of dwellers mate at once to increase population. Moments ago it was about time for babies to arrive, but every time I try to load my vault it crashes. I did what others have mentioned and started a new vault and it worked fine. I tried to load my old vault again, but no luck. Bethesda, I have criticized others for attacking your game, but this is unacceptable. I've spent my fair share of cash on this game, yet the content I've paid for is no longer available. This needs addressing immediately. I feel like they weren't prepared for the task of maintaining this app, and may lose some of their fan base over the mishandling of it.

I had the same issue after purchasing 5 Mr. Handys and 40 Lunchboxes. It worked for a little bit after that, and then wouldn't open anymore, no matter what I tried. It forced me to uninstall and reinstall, making me lose my $24 in purchases. No big deal, IF Bethesda replaced my purchases, or refunded so I could purchase again. HOWEVER, I emailed the support email about the issue and I got an automated response, stating to post the issue here (I'm guessing with no response or effect what-so-ever towards getting my purchase back), or contact Google Play concerning in-app purchases. I did contact Google, and they said that this is in direct violation of their policies for Bethesda not to support customers that have lost items paid for due to a glitch in the game. They also said, that if they hear enough of this, and Bethesda doesn't back their game in this manner, they will pull it from Google Play until it complies. I HOPE that someone at Bethesda sees this and provides people that have lost money to their glitch with replacement items or a refund to repurchase, because overall it is a fun game, and I am a HUGE fan of the fallout series from the first one in '97 by Black Isle through the latest (yes, even the somewhat poorly hatched Fallout Tactics). My issues happened on a Droid Turbo device with Android version 5.1 installed.

This same thing has happened to me. I just started playing yesterday, decided I liked the game, spent $24 on lunchboxes and Mr Handy's. My population is up to about 58 dwellers, and now it wont let me load my vault. I started another vault, and it works fine.


If I try to load my big vault, the game just crashes. This is completely unacceptable.

Hey, I'm having this issue too.

I want to know if there is a fix or if I will get everything back.

At this time I do not believe there is any sort of fix. Most importantly, if you do not want to lose your progress, do not uninstall or delete any files in rehard to the game. If you cannot access one of your vaults, there is a chance that Bethesda could theoretically update the game to fix the bug, and you may eventually regain access to your vault.

In some cases folks have found their save game to be 0kb. Mine, remains at 166kb, so in theory, there might be something there to recover.


My suggestion, keep the game on your device. Don't buy any more content for now. Seek a refund through Google Play for what you no longer have access to. Cross your fingers Bethesda fixes this.

Just had this exact issue on my Android phone. I tried leaving it load for an hour in desperation and nothing happened. Saved the the vault, uninstalled and reinstalled but game crashes to home screen when I try to open it. So I sent falloutShelterHelp an e-mail detailing the issue and got a cookie cutter auto reply to post on their forums... So I am.

My best advice to those who spent money is talk to GooglePlay. I made sporadic purchases all within two weeks time and they credited me every single transaction, totaling just over $20. They were able to make up for Bethesdas lack of customer service.

I have a vault with 177 dwellers that I haven't been able to play since 8/7. Game crashes when it goes to autosave. I just keep waiting for an update...

It started happening on my android when I left it robbing in the back ground while I was at work... When I went on break it tried to load back up spin unlocking.. And home screened... After that it would not load that vault anymore.. I think this is what may have caused it... Other than that... 76 dwellers 26 rooms $80 dollars in lunchbox... Three dwellers outside one robot outside... Just started on deathclaws... Hope you guys can fix it...

Having this same issue on Android 4.1. Got to 122 dwellers, and 22 rooms. It crashes whenever I open that vault (and before that, would crash increasingly as the vault pop grew), but less populous vaults open without issue. I have to assume this has to do with the amount of virtual memory being used. If there was a way to turn off the 3D on zoom in, that would be a simple stop-gap to at least keep us playing.

I have been playing for a week, then it crashed at loading screen and i couldnt initialize the game anymore.

I have tried many times to enter my vault, but it didnt work, then i decided to uninstall and install again. Now it works, but i lost my save! I'm very unhappy with this. I have wasted a lot of time ??

They need to fix this bug. I can't play this game for more than a week without it doing this. Lost one vault already due to reinstalling. Don't want to have to lose it again.

I just hit the same problem with my 32gb iPad 3. It ran fine all the way to 195 dwellers. The next morning it wouldn't load anymore. I had the same problem on my iPad 2 a few months ago. It crashed after I hit 30 dwellers. I know the iPad 2 wasn't supported but the 3 is. This really svcks because I have a whole lot of really good gear and I don't want to have to start over again.
