So, long story short, got the newest update, and received the free kennel (apparently with Dogmeat! :D), but before I could open it, a room caught fire, then the game crashed.


That hasn't happened for me since the patch that added piper into the game.


The game crashed twice more within a few seconds of loading into the vault, but seems to have stabilized. The room that caught fire seems to have no longer caught fire after all and the free kennel is no where (and no, there is no pet in my storage).


I tried looking online for help and found nothing yet.


My only conclusion is that the vault-tec pet wranglers retracted the offer of a pet temporary, and will possibly swing by my vault again later.


But, I've played for a bit now, trying to get the claim screen to pop up again, and no dice so far. :(


I'm playing on a HTC One Remix, I did an update only, and it was an auto-update. The OS is: Android 4.4.2.


Additionally: Unrelated, but annoying, when did outfits get listed individually, rather than as groups in the outfit selection menu on a dweller? Having an indicator of x3 would be a bit more compact than having 3 of those outfits pop up individually, and when you're stockpiling over a hundred outfits... must say I prefer the old system on that one. Scrolling through a dozen outfits is much faster than over a hundred. :/


But hey, faster vendoring, that was appreciated. XD

Seriously though, I found that if you uninstall the game and reinstall, the pop-up that gives you the dog comes back. The game seems to check if your vault has ever had a pet(it's in the list of stats) and if that number is 0 it gives you one. Just make sure you have your vaults backed up somewhere, because they'll get deleted when you uninstall. Once the game is reinstalled, put your vaults back and claim your pet. Worked for me, anyhow.

You know, I've never actually tried the cloud save function. I'd still do a manual backup though, loosing weeks worth of work for a dog isn't worth the risk. Use your file manager app(every Android I've seen comes with one) to browse to Phone storage\Android\data\com.gamesas.falloutshelter\files\ and back up all the vault.sav files. Personally I just email them to myself, since it's like a cloud save you can control.

So, I backed it up, uninstalled, reinstalled, and then reloaded the vault.


No dice. Derped around for a bit, but so far nothing. Thanks though. :)

I realize that nobody (gamesas) has addressed this issue. I also see there appears to be no solution. My story is as follows.


Log in, get pet, be excited, quit playing, go back to play, look for pet to be happy again.... No pet. Uninstall game as previously suggested... Reinstall. No change

Hello. :)


So, when the December patch came out, I had a glitch.


I received the pop-up for the free pet carrier, and clicked it. But before I could open it, the game crashed. Something that hadn't happened since the last update.


It stopped crashing after the third crash, but when I went to open the carrier, and receive Dogmeat, it wasn't there. I searched online, and found the android support forums, and posted a thread there (http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1572962-oh-hey-a-pet-aaaaand-now-its-gone/#entry24732722) (it includes my mobile's info) in accordance with what Bethesda has in its FAQ, and the stickied thread in that forum. I have attempted the fixes found there, and the only fix there did not work.


My questions:

1) Is there a fix for this. I would really like to receive Dogmeat.

2) Is there a better method /way to contact technical support, or a better location to do so from the forums. There seems to be little interaction there with anyone Bethesda related.

3) Was the change to item scrolling, where each item is listed individually instead of in stacks, in the equip menu intentional, or an accident. If accidental, how long (roughly of course) until it might be fixed to what it was. If intentional, would it be possible to change it to an option to do this? It genuinely makes the game unplayable to have too scroll through all your stored items enmasse rather than collapsed by item like it was before.


Up until I had these glitches/changes, I rather enjoyed this game. Additionally, I have actually purchased items in it, not saying I deserve help as such, I point it out only so this doesn't sound like someone complaining about something free that they haven't contributed too. Nothing against those players either, it is a free game after all.

So, received an automated email (almost instantly :/) telling me that all technical support issues need to be brought to google play.


Shortly after that I received a survey effectively telling me my ticket was closed, and asking me to fill out a survey.


I indicated on said survey that my issue was most definitely NOT resolved to my satisfaction, that the level of support was not up to the standards I would expect from a company like Bethesda, and that I was extremely disappointed all around.


Seriously? Google play? Gah, might as well try. Maybe they'll provide technical support for Bethesda's game. That sounds more crazy typed out than it did in my head, and it sounded crazy to start with. That'd be like having to contact xBox Live's support rather than the games support because a quest in your Fallout 4 DLC was glitched.
