Update 1.1 - Better, but still....

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 1:37 am

The patch has introduced new features: Deathclaws, MR Handys, Mole Rats(?) and overall fixes. First, I want to say that it runs smoother and better although Dwellers' health is dropping way faster than usual in any incident that happens. When it comes to Mr Handy I was a little disappointed that I have to buy them with real money, without testing them out first. I'd say it'd be nice that after the patch was implemented you get the message that "a lonely Mr Handy was found at the entrance of YOUR Vault". Then after seeing what they're capable of I'd might consider buying one. When it comes to Deathclaws: they’re WAY too fast, WAY too deadly, WAY too tough. When i first got attacked, they ripped through (top level) armored door like it was nothing, they went through 3 floors and over 20 Dwellers with lvl 20+ and all of them with weapons dealing at least 6dmg+. It took nearly 30 seconds, 6 Dwellers dead and 15 Stimpaks used to deal with it and the next wave came 20 minutes later. So I believe some balancing would be nice, and improvement to the reaction times of the Dwellers, because it takes them ages to get in positions and take shots. Also Mole Rats(?): never showed.

Overall, it is good and introduces new challenges, but I'd welcome bigger interaction with the Dwellers, more options, more random encounters, because at some point (especially now with Mr Handys), the game will be playing itself. So keep up the good work with optimisation, and more new content will be appreciated.

What do you think people?

I played for a few days when the game was released and got bored and haven't played it since. This update doesn't sound like it introduces anything that would make me want to start playing again.

Though I do agree it could be better, it's a game for your phone, designed for casual play to the masses and serious play for the Fallout fanatics (like myself)! FO4 will bring it! This is just the laying of the red carpet for the real show!!!

if you haven't bought any Mr Handy...then i suggest buying it TRUST me IT HELPS OUT SOOOOOOOOO MUCH

they will collect your resources for you so basically that means you don't have to check every 20 minutes to feed them..you can EVEn wait a day or so and come back to find your dwellers leveled up and your resources still at max because of the handyman...but then only ONE handy man can be placed on 1 floor at a time. HECK you can EVEn send them out to the wasteland to collect caps for you...Pretty useful if you ask me...they TAKE out soooo much weight off of you. buy 1 and try it out

My Handy doesn't look worth the $.99. It's nice to have the robot sloooowly creeping along a single floor. Note that handy does not level up dwellers of collect skill improvements - he only collects resources from a few rooms. Not worth it. the above poster is also wrong, handy travels in a circuit along all the floors of your vault.

Otherwise I don't see anything to make this update worthwhile except maybe the deathclaws. these vicious monsters took three rooms of level 50 dwellers to completely kill. All my dwellers survived, but it was a lot more fun than ignoring a team of raiders. I would have liked to see a "sell all junk" feature that automatically sells all the 10 caps items from a returned dweller's inventory. the update does highlight 100 cap items in blue, which is nice. Still, once you have 50 dwellers returning from the wasteland, selling all the worthless pistols and useless clothes becomes very tedious.

Overall grade for this update is a D.

Personally, with the addition of the Deathclaws... my enjoyment was killed right along with all the Dwellers in their wake. I had 4 Deathclaws tear through 5 rooms that where populated with Maxed Special Dwellers all at level 50 (My vault is kept at 196 Dwellers and has 42 rooms.) This is a PHONE GAME, in which I would take a few minutes during lunch to hop on and take care of things... not now. Can't take the time to risk having a Deathclaw invasion and spend all the time fixing the carnage that follows.

Once I get all my Dwellers back from the Wasteland, I will stop playing all together.

I generally think that they should introduce the feature of collecting some loot out of bodies of defeated raiders/deathclaws as in the rest of the Fallout Franchise. Also, it'd be nice to have option to modify the gear out of junk you have in inventory (two Lab Coats merged together gives Adv. Lab Coat or something like that), but I still can't see that the outfits change anything else than S.P.E.C.I.A.L.s. I think all fans should meet up in one place to discuss ideas to make the game better, and to make the FS a game with actual F solutions.
