Persuasion mods?

Post » Thu Jul 01, 2010 9:17 pm

Hi I'm wondering if there exist any mods to make persuasion (and yes, it has to be actual persuasion. No potions or enchantment tricks) more reliable or at the very least easier?

As it stands, I find it too much of a quicksave-fest. That is, its so unreliable, even at moderate levels of speechcraft, that the only reliable way to persuade anyone is by quicksaving when you succede, and quickloading when you fail.

I find bribing quite reliable. How are you doing persuation so that it seems unreliable to you?

At low levels, I bribe, which levels up my speechcraft. At high levels I switch to admire.

Then I bite them as a vampire (with vampire embrace) and take all my money back. :)

Admire. I'm not that rich that I can simply bribe 100 or 1000 every time. And I'm certainly not leveled up enough to try intimidate (not that I ever use that anyway). And my character has no Illusion skill, so no charming.

Actually what would be nice would be something like Talkie Toaster's says share for Oblivion: where you can give gifts and attempt to pursuade them that way.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6489 is a mod I made a long time ago that might help ^^

It lets you apologise to NPCs who you may have offended, so you get another chance.

No mods to suggest, but I find that bribing 10 septims usually gives better results if you're low on cash. Might not be as successful as larger amounts, but you can get 10 or 100 times more attempts, so overall, I find it easier to raise disposition.

I'd suggest just training your speechcraft higher, use Bug musk, charm (you can use a charm without having to cast it, just get charm scrolls or enchanted items), enhancing your personality with items or potions or using the Imperial's Voice of the Empire ability.

If you really don't want any of those solutions, you can always just use the console to give yourself a higher speechcraft and personality.

Might also want to take a peek at http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6859 by Casey Tucker. It adds in a lot of options for interaction with NPCs, and looking it over I can see that Speechcraft does come into play for some of these things (where it makes sense to use it).
