What about a "Shield"

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 10:00 am

Okay let's resume my last 10 minutes of game. I turned on my tablet, getting ready to collect my resources. All of them was below the line for NO reason, my tab was tunred of while i'm sleeping. I collect my resources, collect my outside dwellers and then a Deathclaw attack ! You expected it, that's the main topic on this forums about of [censored]*ng hell they're unbalanced for people that play since Andro?d launch. I try to get good but I can't. I have no more caps and a job to find for 5 dwellers. And then ... oh another attack. A little bit of luck, it's just looters, no big deal, they won't pass vault door. Then 2 minutes after taht another Deathclaw attack what a surprise.

Well Bethesda, I like your games, i mean I certainly played more than 1000 hours playing your games but WHAT THE [censored] AM I SUPPOSED TO DO. Alright you prefer iOS I don't know why you would put Android user in a big sh*t like that but no problem. At least put a Shield that protect us for 30 minutes hum?

Oh and while I'm writing this I got another looter attack. Congrats Bethesda, we can't buy your pack because even if I did I would'nt be able to stand another Deathclaw raid. Seems like they like me.

How often are you building/upgrading? How often are you sending dwellers out/bringing them back in? How much are you using the radio studio? All of these factor into how often you'll get outside attackers. Doing any of them will attract attention, and doing them too often will attract too much attention.

ExFactor, where do you get that "building or upgrading" affects what attacks come at your vault? The only two things that have been confirmed by Bethesda are that the radio room attracts outside attacks, and that opening the vault door can attract outside attacks.

One of the tips that show when you first load your vault says that at least Deathclaws are attracted by the sound of construction. Also, through personal experience, after having wave after wave of raiders constantly bombarding me in my old vault and the barely any in my new vault, I can safely say that it's because of the amount of upgrading I did. I'm doing the zig-zag strategy now and I've only upgraded a few times, all times noticing that I'll get a wave or two of raider attacks just minutes after upgrading.

I haven't noticed anything of the sort, though if there is a hint message I'll keep my eyes out for it. In my experience however I've gotten raiders just from collecting resources and not doing anything too long. It's like the game punishes you for just idling too much now.

The losing resources for no reason is a plot to keep you playing and hopefully get your money. You won't have a problem if you buy a mister handy! How convenient is that!

Ironically Carolina89, people who have bought handy and use them have had more trouble as it can get killed resulting in a 2000 cap repair fee. ;)

Okay, I was wrong. It wasn't in the tips about the Deathclaws, it was in the patch notes for the 1.1 update.

First point on it.

I knew I saw it somewhere. It could be a tip, too.

Interesting. Well I have not been able to confirm it yet as I have not had a single deathclaw to deal with. I'll concede that point that it was said by staff that new construction can attract them, but saying not to build anything is like saying don't play the game. It's somewhat difficult to do.

this morning I sent out 20 dwellers into the wasteland. You would think that process would take 2 minutes tops. I tried to throw them out all in one batch. alas, the game wouldn't let me. I got 3 (!!) death claw attacks before all of the dwellers were finally out and it took like half an hour. Those death claws sure are a huge pain in the ***.

I hate it when a fire springs up just as they are almost off the map. I tend not to notice for 5-10 minutes and then go "Hey, why do I have so many stimpacks" Then I have to hunt down the one dweller who's wandering around >.>

I didn't see my first deathclaw attack until my vault reached a population somewhere in the mid-60's. Assuming a fairly standard vault layout, Deathclaws and raiders will attempt to move through your vault in a pattern. From the Vault Door they will move to the right, until they can go no further, then they will move to the nearest elevator and move down. On the second level they will start on the right side and move left until they can move no further then seek the nearest elevator. On odd numbered levels they will move left to right and even numbered levels will move right to left.

In my vault, I have on my first floor (left to right), the Vault Door, an elevator, a merged three room living quarters, a merged two room storage section, and finished with an elevator. My second floor (from right to left) an elevator, merged two room storage section, merged three room power generator, an elevator, and a merged three room power generator. My third floor (from left to right) contains a merged three room diner, an elevator, and a merged three room water plant.

I have not defended the first floor or the storage room on the second floor (eventually, I will but I am still training and leveling a defense team for the first floor). The first defended room the deathclaws run into is my power room in the center of the second floor, next is the power room on the left hand side of the second floor, then there is the diner on the third floor. Deathclaws have never made it to my water plant and they usually don't make it to the diner. Since they never make it past the diner on the third level of they never make it to the fouth level or lower levels. My best geared people are in the first power room, next best geared are in my other power room, most of the people in the diner are geared with a mix of shotguns and the odd rusty laser weapon.

I have never lost a single dweller to a deathclaw attack. Basically, if all the dwellers in a room are about level 25 or above, the deathclaws do not stay in the room long enough to kill them. What gives me the drizzles is those thrice damned mole rats. They seem to home in on my low level dwellers. The deathclaws are really nothing more than an annoyance to me, it is the mole rats that are the real killers in the latest update.

Okay thanks for the answers mates, I apologize for all the insults I said, but it was in the action. I really want to keep playing that game but if I make my dwellers get out of the radio station to get no more Deathclaws, this mean that I paid 1 2 room Radio Station Lv2 for nothing and I would need to find them a new job otherwise my guys are not happy and they don't produce more. But if I don't build anything, what the point of the game, right now I'm litteraly afraid of playing this game for like more than 2 minutes because I'm the unlucky. But thanks bros.
