Upgrading vault door increases strength of raiders?

Hey all,

Just yesterday I noticed a loading screen tip that said you could upgrade the vault door to make it harder to break in, so naturally I upgraded the door to level 2. Now, however, the raiders that come and attack have slightly higher level weapons. With a level one door there was usually one or two guys with a low level pistol and the remaining one or two with bumper swords. After upgrading the door to level 2, they now have one with a laser pistol, and two with low level pistols.

Does upgrading the door upgrade the raider threat, or was this just coincidence? Seeing as how the raiders get in no matter what level the door is, raiders with upgraded weapons would not be worth the slight delay in getting through the stronger door.

Anyone do any testing of this?

I have wondered this myself. Though I thought it was tied to the guards that I had in the entry way... because I didn't upgrade my vault door until really really late in my vault development (after I hit 200 population). It seemed that when I swapped out my guards the Raiders had better equipment. Now that I have level 50s with maxed specials, I get four Raiders with Laser Rifles and Plasma Rifles. Though they don't make it past the first room, my guards take about 65% - 75% damage to their health.

I saw no clear difference with the raider strength after I upgraded my door, they just naturally gain in strength as you do, before the update I actually got annoyed with the upgraded door as the raiders were no threat, but the longer entrance time just meant I had to wait longer for them to get slaughtered so I could move dwellers or rush rooms.

It makes me wonder what Deathclaw attacks would be like with a level 1 door, they break through the level 3 door in about four seconds so I imagine the level 1 door is just like a football team running through a paper banner.

I dont think this is related to the door upgrade. I think the raiders grow stronger over time because your dwellers have also increased in level. I upgraded my door fairly early on and there were still raiders attacking with machetes and whatnot, while the next day (when I had a bunch of dwellers level up) they started showing up with hunting rifles and pistols. I think it was a coincidence on your part.

I will say that the door upgrade is barely 3-4 seconds time extra though. Hardly worth the caps early on if you arent that rich yet.

I've never bothered with door gaurds; they level slowly, contribute nothing to production and the raiders always end up in the production rooms anyhow. My guards are in the first production room behind the door. So the difference in the raiders is either tied to the door itself or the level of my dwellers.

It would make more sense that the raiders leveled with the dwellers, but it was a weird coincidence that they leveled the exact same time as the door. I wish I could downgrade the door to find out.
