3 deathclaw attacks in 1 HOUR !

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 11:11 pm

I'm usually not one to complain, and I love a good challenge in my games but that was rediculous. I had no time to regroup and rebuild between these attacks. I'm now left with 4 destroyed Mr. Handys, and 30 dead dwellers, and really wishing I could get a refund on the $$ I put into this game already; if everything can so easily get destroyed by these random deathclaw encounters. I can't even keep up with them moving through rooms, switching weapons, and manually healing.

Keeping a good challenge in the game is fine by me, but give us some recovery time between attacks, or make it so you can put some dwellers on guard duty that will actually follow the deathclaws around, and not become completely useless when they jump into a new room. Or some kind of combat menu would be nice so I can accurately and quickly heal people that need it. You lose dwellers pretty easy when there's 3 deathclaws, a Mr. Handy, and 2 fragile dwellers in a single tiny room and you just can't tap them fast enough.

That's my rant. I really enjoyed this game the first few days, but after those 3 attacks decimated my vault I'm less inclined to play anymore. I may start a new vault, but I probably couldn't justify spending any more $$ on this game.

According to the loading screens, having more radio broadcasting and frequent open and closing of the vault door increases deathclaw attacks. How many radio rooms and people do you have working in them right now? It might be a good idea to take people off the radios (i personally dont see much use in them, as the dwellers ive got from the radios have been worse than the babies i have been making, and i can make 10 babies faster than i can i collect 1 dweller from the radios).

Also, about how many dwellers did you have when you got your first deathclaw attacks?

Im at 59 dwellers and have been staying there because i assume that once i hit the high tier production rooms (like the nuclear reactor which is unlocked at 60) is when ill start seeing deathclaws. So my guys have all been in rocky training montages, im trying to keep guys out in the wastes for days at a time to get some good gear, and i got nobody working the radios right now (and im still above 90% happiness so i havent taken a hit on that), and so far so good on deathclaw attacks. Though i do dread when i get my first one after reading so much about them.

I just want a bunch of badasses equipped in my top rooms before i expand further to prepare for deathclaws. Luckily i havent spent any money on the game besides 5 dollars for a pack of mr handys, which i think 5 dollars for the game is fair for me (and gives a bit of support to the developers). But yes, i would be disheartened to have my entire vault get massacred.

If you start again keep restarting until you get several decent things from your initial lunch boxes...i.e. several legendary dwellers and/or weapons.

Then build your first floor with single rooms and only the one elevator to make a kill gauntlet for raiders/deathclaws. I have a one room power, water, and food, then a two room storage room with my highest level dwellers and best weapons.

Then dont go over 60 vault dwellers till you feel you are adequately geared to deal with the attack.

I have been at 60 vault dwellers for three days now and have not yet had a deathclaw attack despite me sending several dwellers into the wastes a day. I refuse to build a radio room for fear of attacks.

The rest of my vault is two three room food, water and power bays and a three room nuclear reactor. I also have several three room dweller rooms and one three room med bay, science bay, and a three room storage bay on the left side. Down the right side is all two room training bays.

I wont upgrade any rooms over lv2 to keep the radroaches and molerats weak.

When I feel I have enough good guns I will start pregnancies again and add a second or third medbay for more stim pack storage.

I figure if I get hit, I will log off after they are dead and only log on again quickly to rebuild supplies and stimpacks and log out again until I have enough supplies to handle a second attack...

A limit (maybe 2 attacks by deathclaws and 8 attacks by raiders per hour) would be great.

Or a "noice" indicator, which fills (resulting in attacks by deatchclaws) if you construct rooms or open vault doors and decreases if you don't make any noise.

I have a maxed capacity vault. I deleted my radio room to reduce the DC frequency. Oddly enough, I had an attack 5 hours after I sent someone out into the Wasteland. So, there must be a chance in the random event list to have a DC attack. Even if you don't have the things that could trigger them.

To be honest. I think they shot themselves in the foot with these over powered DeathClaw. I've seen a lot of people post saying that they wouldn't spend any money on this game because of them... just think of all the people who didn't post who are not spending any money because of the DeathClaw attacks.

I know they won't get any money from me because of them.

I am one of those people. I was literally about to shell out $3.99 for 5 boxes the day I started reading these horror stories...

Then I also weighed in the no saving feature and the fact the boxes are only used once for that vault and if it gets ruined and you have to start over the money is gone....no one wants to throw money away...

The best thing they could do is make boxes and handys account wide on all saves and restarts...

I'd shell out the money for 5 boxes and handys right now if you got them over again every time you start a new vault. That would really really be worth it.

I guarantee that everyone that likes this game even a little would give Bethesda 1-4 dollars for boxes if they worked that way.

It would be a done deal...

Basically you need high damage weapons to defend against deathclaws. I mean I have no problem cause of the amount of powerful weapons I have + stims.

(enligsh it's not my native lenguage so forgive me if I have bad grammar)

I have gone through this too, 4 DC atacks in like, 1 hour and a half. DC are already hard to defeat (specialy with my lame armors and weapons), I hit the 60 recently and those things doesn't stop showing up.

By miracle I haven't just gave up and started a new vault, I always get back in my feet as fast as possible, but I don't think I'll be able to much longer.

There's a limit in dificulty from challenging to total bull****, I loved the game, I'm addicted to it since it was released on android.

But if this it's not fixed soon I might uninstall it.

I just Uninstaller fallout shelter. My vault had 140 dwellers. Key word is "had". Every time I sent a dweller out, or let one in, I had a deathclaw attack. I had 6 in an hour, which wiped out 40 dwellers. I then sent out a dweller, got a death claw attack. Called dweller back, got a death claw attack. I kept doing this till the entire vault was dead. I didn't even have a radio room. :(

I want to chime in also.

Earlier today I also had a 4 DC attack in 1.5 hours. It was destructive.

20 villagers killed

4k caps spent to revive (in vain)

60 to 70 stims used (in vain)

2 mr handys destroyed with 1 at 5% health.

At the end of the carnage I had 10 corpse with no stims, no caps, economy descimated and spirits down.

I found the old blog to complain.

Yeah I feel like I'm a low complainer too. I get needing a challenge. But come on!

If I had known that past 60 dwellers would triggered the deathclaw I would've def stayed under that limit.

I mean I was working on a goal of having enough dwellers to support my economy and explore the waste land for items and caps. I was working to have 10 or 15 explorers. I didn't know that deathclaw were going to be sooooo much worse than regular raiders. Its like the raiders are level 5 and the DC are level 50!

So after I complained on the old blog I figured it fall on deaf ears anyway. And I did spend the 4 bucks on Mr handy pack so I wasn't going to give up just yet. BTW until deathclaws are balanced some way then I wont spend any money on this game.

And I worked very hard to get my 78 dwellers back on track. Reassigned dwellers to replace the dead ones. And my poor dwellers were very depressed working around all these corpses. Got my economy back chugging again. Couldnt build a cache of stims because I kept getting pest attack and regular raids and all my good weapons were in the hands of dead dwellers. But I did it. Although through it I did lose another Mr Handy I got all my dwellers revived. Everything was golden. All I had left was 3 Mr Handys to revive.

I had been working on luck for some dwellers for exploring. I got 4 up to 7 luck, equiped one with a weapon and +3 uniform sent him out.

BAM another DC attack came.

But this time I had only 8 stims. I got ready for the massacre. I used up the last of my stims and then sat back and watched the carnage.

After it was done 10 more villagers were lying on the ground dead and I was pissed. Still am.

Then I hunted down the blog post I whinned in earlier. I realized it was dead. So I found this forum and thread. And here I am to complain.

The DC are too powerful. They need to scale with vault age or score not vault population. The game should warm you up to the DC. NOT burn like a hot pocket right out of the microwave and cheese squirts to the roof of your mouth cooking the flesh off the bone.

DC should be cooled on the plate a little bit, if you will, before one goes right in for that first bite. Maybe send only 1 first for a while. Then 2.

Maybe tie the level to a better equation like:

score/100 and scale the hp and damge better

NOT

Is population 60+ then rain death like this is game of thrones!

I hope developers read these post. Please please rework the DC to balance em more.

edit:

I know one needs high level weapons to defend but My vault is only 3 days old and I've got 78 dwellers. I have explored some and got some decent weapons. At least I can defend againt raiders and pest attacks. I was just about to start really long term exploring since i just got the extra dweller to do that and now it's constant DC attacks, I'm stuck.

Edit #2; I now have 27 corpses out of 78. DC is overpower. I wasted 3.99 on this..........
