100% guaranteed Legendarylunchbox

Hello fellow Fallout players!

I really enjoy this game in every possible way. I like testing things, so I did this with Fallout Shelter too, and i recently found a glitch, or an advanced way to get those Shiny Legendary items.

All you need is to get some lunchboxes, and then, do a copy of your "VaultX.Sav"

Open the lunchboxes, and if you dont get any preferred items, you just copy paste your copied save file into your mobile device and then open those lunchboxes again. The game randomly generates new items. You can do it over and over again, till you found some Legendary stuff.

I don't know whether im the only one who found it, but i feel like, that this method destroy the exciting feeling of opening lunchboxes. Not to mention the advantage you get.

Does anybody encountered this before?

Sorry for my bad English, its not my native language. :)

Already posted this in my guide that no one reads. I have been doing this for over a week now...

Or, you can decrypt the VaultX.sav and invoke some voodoo magic upon your vault, or you can download some other save game, or you can exploit time glitch etc etc. Not a great method to enjoy the game, really.

It would be much nicer if Bethesda eventually decides to implement at least some suggestions pointed out in this forum. Some features will take just a couple days to implement, and a week to test, but will drastically improve user experience. Currenly, I see the number of publicly awailable game hacks (*all* of them to bypass obvious bugs and stupid behavior) growing exponentially, which may kill the game in a long term, which would be a really (I mean, really!) nasty loss to those who enjoy fallout setting.

messing with your savestats like this can hardly be considered a "has anyone encountered this" question. You're not encountering something in the game, you are manipulating something outside of the game to achieve something. Therefor it's not a bug or a glitch.

also, whats the point in doing this? Seems like a way to break the game into not being fun anymore :/

Yes! Let's all point fingers and yell "/TGM PLAYER BOOOO!".

I bet some ppl don't like it, hell I'm sure of it, but it can be a solution at times to do so. If you don't, don't. If you do, do.

Personally I like to be able to have options. To go left AND right. Combining those on the road has always given me some really nice trips..

I'm not "pointing fingers", I am stating that manipulating a part of the game's software simply isn't a bug or glitch. If I install a game on my pc, then start messing with savestats or other files, it's not a bug or glitch that I found. So I think it's not really appropriate to classify it as such.

That's a great way to kill the game for yourself. They can of course fix the code so that the lunchbox items are generated upon receipt of the box and not the opening there of. Problem solved. (they probably wont do it though)

It's not a glitch it's just some lazy code, cheat crap they didn't anticipate. Probably didn't bother beta testing the game much (after all it's a free game to kill time before FO4).

from OP's post

"do a copy of your "VaultX.Sav"

Thats not lazy code. Thats savefile manipulation, and you can do that on a lot of games and emulators. I'll take Terraria for example; it has savefiles for content on your world, and a savefile for content on your character. You copy either the character save or the world save to another folder. You then proceed to move stuff from your character to your world or vice-versa. Then you quit the game, and the game has saved both your character and world file. Then copy the old save of whichever of the two you took the content from, and replace it. Bam, old content is back, even though it was also moved to the other location.

This is the same thing, and has nothing to do AT ALL with lazy coding, it's something you do outside the game.

What a nice way to describe cheating (by save scumming).

It can be prevented if you bothered to read what I said. So it's lazy coding in that it's not testing for easy and common/obvious exploits. To stop it, like I said previously, is generate the item when the lunchbox is awarded not when it is opened. That way no mater how many times you open it, it's contents are the same. That makes it much harder to know when to create the save file, and would severely reduce the chances of people doing this.

Look, you can take a normal deck of playing cards, take the ace of spades out of it and then throw away the other 51 cards. You can then play One Card Solitaire with the ace of spades. I will guarantee you will win every game you play, since every card (all one of them) will wind up in the ace pile.

I have no objection to you playing One Card Solitaire if you wish. But if you think you are playing Solitaire, you are lying to yourself; and if you tell me you won 50 games straight of Solitaire when you were playing One Card Solitaire then you are lying to me.

Cheats, hacks, exploiting the file system, etc. are all the Fallout Shelter version of One Card Solitaire.
