Your main vault being put in fallout 4

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 1:10 pm

I have no idea if this has been said before, but whatever here I go XD

I would think it would be fairly cool if your vault from shelter was generated into fallout 4. Obviously in a designated spot, and declared non cannon. Perhaps only accessible through wacky wasteland traits or something similar would be a very cool easter egg, and perhaps some sarcastic comments on generic actions of the vault you over saw. I personally would think since its built in such a generic way implementing it as a bonus into the game would be kind of amazing.

No, becuase it denies a chunk of content to any one that doesn't have a compatible device, isn't interested in playing Shelter or who hasn't been able to play Shelter for more than a few minutes due to the bugs.

I stongly dislike it when developers wall off content to anyone that desn't use an App.

And yes, it's been suggested a few times, but considering it's something Bethesda would have mentioned by now, if just to get more people playing the App and buying from the ingame store, then I very much doubt it's in.

One way the suggest could work (and only way) is if there was in Fallout 4 and arcade machine someplace in the game that allowed you to access Fallout Shelter within the game itself (maybe a purchase for your safe house). That is literally the only way you could have it effect the game but even then what if you changed the vault at all? Would it change within the game?

I personally like the idea though I just don't see it being easy (or time/cost worthy) to program.

What would be the point of having the Fallout Shelter vault accessable in Fallout 4? You get a practically 2 dimensional vault with 3-8 rooms per level and up to 200 dwellers. The different rooms would share identical designs. The dwellers and their goods would be friendly, so steeling gear or killing dwellers would provoke hostile reactions. Not sure, if the irony of getting killed by your Lvl 50 vault protectors would be fun, though.

The single aspect i′d consider interesting would be the possibility to find one or several of your explorers out in the wastes, either for trade, or to kill and scavange him/her...

I'd consider it all to be fun. I mean your dwellers would be jacked which would make attacking the vault difficult but it would be a challenge as well.

What if they made it so you could attack other people's Shelter? Like you could choose to flag your shelter as 'Outlaw' or 'Open' to make it PvP. People could try to attack your vault. Imagine trying to attack a vault with a few of the dwellers wielding the Fat Man!

Just thinking about it though, it isn't pragmatic or practical.

Edit: oh I forgot to mention that I really like your 'explorer' idea and how you can interact with them in the wastes.

How would that even be possible when neither game is multiplayer?

Simple. They make it that way.

They make Fallout 4 multiplayer? Less than two months before release they basically scrap the games code and delay the game another two-four years to rebuild it so they can add mutiplayer support?

For a feature based on an APp that only a portion of F4 players will even have bothered with?

Seriously?

You are not understanding the simplicity to it. The vault that people create would be uploaded into a database that could score the difficulty on a scale. The player could go to a special vault door in the wasteland and it would connect to the internet and give them a few options of vaults that they could choose to attack. When they select someones vault, it would upload the details and the player could enter it and either attack or just trade with it. This could give you caps or new gear for your FOS vault, or leave people dead.

Basically, it stays single player. It isn't like you'd see the other player, only the dwellers from the FOS vault. Like Clash of Clans, it is ultimately single player but you attack other people's designed towns.

Also you'd have to save before entering the vault and if you die that FOS vault would gain caps and gear.

There are aspects that would need to be ironed out but the idea is there.

It will still require them to add net code that can't just be slapped on like a band aid. Also, I think you need to look up the meaning of PvP.

The games engine also doesn't support loading data such as maps in while it's running like that.

You're right, it is more of a PvE with the environment being another player's design, thus PvP(E).

I think the one thing that kills the idea in its tracks would be how do you deal with multiple saves on one PC? Right now we can save multiple different files, but if FOS is to interact with FO4 there would need to be one save file for each PC so that if they died in an FOS vault then it could penalize the PC for dying in another player's FOS vault and give a bonus to the FOS vault. That throws off the whole flow of how the FO universe works.

Engines can be changed, coding can be added. This definitely isn't something they can add now but it doesn't hurt to just have fun with the idea!
