Question About Long Range Weapons

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 4:05 pm

One of my Vaults has a Fat Man. Another has a Guided Missile Launcher. I have equipped them on Dwellers in a 3-room "Deathclaw Death Pit". Even though both have been involved in multiple Deathclaw attacks, neither has ever been fired. The Dweller spends the entire attack running to the opposite end of the room from the Deathclaws. But by the time he gets to the other side of the room, the Deathclaws have moved such that the Dweller decides to run to the opposite side of the room.

So my question is, are the Fat Man and Guided Missile Launcher "for outdoor use only", or do I need to set up in a different sized room?

And is it true that SPECIAL stats don't affect weapon effectiveness?

Thanks.....

It's just that there are too many things going on to show all of the animations at once. The Fat Man works just fine indoors. There is no such thing as range when it comes to weapons in Fallout Shelter, other than how far out into the wasteland they will get you.

As far as SPECIAL affecting weapon effectiveness, I personally haven't tested that yet, but plan on it soon.

I really hate when it happens, they keep on running endlessly and it seems to not damage the enemies

But it does. They do damage the enemies.

Doesn't disturb me anymore after realising that constant damage is made even if animations don't quite show that.

Thanks for the replies.

I have since equipped the Vault Door guards of one of my Vaults with a Fat Man and a Guided Fat Man, and they are being fired, and the animations are fantastic (Raiders walk in, but they don't walk out). The Vault Door is two rooms long though, not three.

Your much better with 3x single width rooms (non upgraded), with 2 dwellers in each, much easier to control and stim, no running about and the DCs will generally move along to the next before you need to stim at all if they are level 20+, my whole top floor is like this and the last DC drops in the last room.

I started a new Vault a couple days ago, and that's exactly how I built my top floor. As you state, it's much easier to control the engagements. It also gives you time to relocate your top-guns (Dwellers) to rooms further down the hall, so they can re-engage the intruders.
