Vault GONE!

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2016 8:49 pm

Sent here from Bethesda support ...

My vault that I've been working on for 2 months now has disappeared including all the lunchboxes, and Mr Handy that I've bought!

Oh and did I mention that I've been working on the vault for 2 MONTHS!

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I just worked on it a little last night before I went to bed (leveled up some dwellers etc), and when I opened it today ... its gone, and doesn't appear on my list of saved vaults.

What can I do?

So in other words so are the $50 that I've spent on it as well?

Dear Gstaff, I'm not sure how to interpret your respons. Does it mean that my vault is lost along with IRL money that I've spent on the game until you so happen to have an update for fallout shelter?

My guess is your vault is now a zero-length file and lost for eternity. Condolances on your loss. This seems to be a frequent thing if Something Bad happened (force stop, device shutdown, etc) while FOS was writing the file. On Android, the vault files are stored in the location shown below. Look here for the vault files. They're named Vault1.sav - Vault3.sav according to their position in the vault list.

Thank you, but there are no *.sav files in that directory.

It just seem rather curious that Bethesda asks for actual dollars for additional bonus items, but don't have a failsafe method like cloud storage, while still have a very flimsy save mechanism.

Yeah this is pretty much exactly why I'm not spending any money on this game

I was digging around, and found a save game editor. Since I've already spent around $50 on this game, I think I don't feel any remorse using that to rebuild my Vault to how it was.

I'm sure the next update will try and prevent people from using third party save games which might have 20,000 lunchboxes

Of course they will, but I Hope that will allow us to save own games.

Save file editing is not big deal. Many mobile games have various hack or weaknesses that may affect In-App purchase. You can get hacked version of every major mobile games easily, especially on Android or on rooted device.

But such loss of revenue due to hack is not so big and considered as part of game business reality. Most casual game user don't use such hack or hacked version. They just spend few dollars instead.

Save file editing is only for small determined game geeks.

My vault got deleted after 2 months, with 110 dwellers, 20+ of them fully maxed special, and I had 4 legendary characters and spent 5 bucks on 5 Mr handys.

Got a 0 byte save file, the phone died literally the second I was swiping the game to close it.

Stopped playing for like 2 weeks, just downloaded a save file last night that started with 7 crappy dwellers and 4 rooms at the beginning. However, it had 1000 lunchboxes and 30 Mr handys.

So in the matter of two hours, I got 76 dwellers, 6 of them are legendary and the rest are rares, loads and loads of legendary weapons and armour, and can wipe out a deathclaw attack with level 10s in the matter of 30 seconds or less.

I just don't have anyone with maxed special like I did before. That's gonna take a month at least to get back.

I do have like 850 lunchboxes left, but I got bored of opening them.

All I find thru google search is mostly Android .sav and or edit devices.

I use iPhone IOS and am completely in the dark. I see some of the U-tube videos but none for 'Dummies' like myself.

Any help or links I can use?

If possible, please include all of this information in your replies. This info will help our teams reading through the forums better investigate the issue.

  • What phone/tablet model are you using?

  • What OS are you currently running?

  • Did you delete the game and reinstall it, or just update over the old build?

  • If you updated, did you manually update it, or allow the store to auto-update it?
