273k caps and not a single 'unique' dweller

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2016 7:42 am

I don't have a single "unique" Dweller showing up on the survival guide, are they that hard to get or am I just unlucky?

Also dont have a mr handy but those are probably impossible to acquire without paying.

If this game has reminded me of anything is how nocive the pay2win or pay2progress model is in the long run, probably time to quit, not much else to do with caps being worthless.

Thanks for the time sinker Bethesda.

This isn't a pay 2 win nor is it pay 2 progress, because you can win without paying a single dime. The lunchboxes don't do much for you in the long run and it's much more of a satisfying game when you play for free imo. Lunchboxes can be earned for free -- I've gotten several 100 without paying for any.

As for legendary dwellers, I have only gotten one, and I was already at 190+ dwellers by the time one showed up in a lunchbox. Don't expect to get many legendaries, but honestly, you don't need legendary dwellers or even legendary items to conquer this game. Game has problems, but pay2win/progress is not one of them.

I've gotten legendary dwellers in lunchboxes that I haven't paid for, but they are few and far between.

I got a Mr. Handy out of a regular lunchbox once, in a vault I didn't pay for mr. handy lunchboxes with.

It takes a long, long time.

Started second vault. First lunchbox brought me T-51b armor. Second - legendary dweller (some Elder from BoS). Then update came and save-file was corrupted T_T

First vault got three legendary items for month of playing 3-4 hours per day.

It's all about randomness.

As far as I remember, WarCraft3 (and then dota) used pseudorandom generators. In simple words If random event not happens too long - its possibility rises. When event happens - its possibility lowers. Such algorithm may make less possible situations, when one vault gets dozens of rare and legendary items, while another gets only commons and "very useful" +500 caps.

First vault I had, I was lucky to get Moira Brown from my first lunchbox.

Second vault I had, about 30 dwellers in I got Mr. Burke.

Both of those vaults were destroyed once I got to Deathclaw levels.

Third vault I got Three-Dog. Still going, about 73 dwellers strong now.

My first vault I was able to get Elder Lyons, Butch and Elder Rothchild from lunchboxes. I also got Piper from the promotional and 2 legendary outfits. I also got a bunch of legendary outfits/weapons from lunchboxes i got from doing the objectives. I spent nothing on the game. I would still be playing but my save crashes upon loading.

My second vault has not been as fortunate as the first. I have a few rare dwellers but no legendary dwellers. The amount of legendary weapons and outfits has also drastically decreased.

This is hardly pay2win. There is nothing you are winning. If you want to see pay to win play a game from PerfectWorld, Aeria or Nexxon (outside of Guild Wars 2). If anything it would be pay for convenience.

I have got 200 dwellers in less than a month, but no legendary dwellers. I deleted that vault and started over.

One of the manin object of this game shoud be collecting cards. what fun if some of the cards are hardly available?

Buying 5 Mr Handy + 40 boxes do not help for tha collection. Even buying more would not make much difference. As most of the 4th cards are CAPS.

I have heard that complete set of LD cannot be obtained even with 1000+ plus boxes, that would be a lot if buying with real money. I do not think this game worths that.

Now, going to the wasteland is also limited. That also makes the objectives more difficult to fulfil. (sell 1230 items, collext 140 weapons etc).

Giving up the oportunity for card collection means the game is done. Developer should consider letting the players to get something to keep the game.

I've never bought a thing, but I've found plenty of legendaries in lunchbox rewards. Several times, in the early game - getting Butch right from the get-go certainly does help to pave the way. I've never gotten a Mr. Handy, though.

Had the same problem until I started hoarding lunchboxes. Now I set a number (10 usually) and don't open any until I reach said number of boxes. I probably get 1 or 2 legendary dwellers/outfits/weapons each time so maybe the game is rigged towards rewarding patience and saving up.

My wife plays the other way (open every lunchbox when it shows), and she has 1 legendary dweller and a couple weapons.. While stuck at 999,999 caps for weeks now... To me this confirms it a bit.
