How would I fare in my first Deathclaw attack?

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2016 7:23 am

My first line of defence is 4 dwellers. Each have a blue weapon on them.

1) Mean green machine, 17-23 damage

2) Rusty alien blaster, 18 damage (I also have the destabalizer, but that's on my exploration dweller)

3) Flamer, 15-16 damage

4) Rusty plasma rifle, 17 damage

All these dwellers have very high strength, 10 for all when boosted.

Would this take away most of the deathclaws health before they move to the next room, where they will meet slightly weaker weapons and nearly die? Or are deathclaws THAT bad that I'm just gonna have to stimpak my way to victory?

Sub question: What do deathclaws drop?

Drop nothing

They will not die in the 2nd room

I have never seen a confirmation that strength actually increases damage

My hint: train lvl 1 dwelles to endurance 10, give them a good endurance armor and level them up to 50. They will have enough health to survive 1 death claw attack. Do this for the entrance and 2 more rooms and give them decent weapons and you are good - haven't lost a single dweller in ages, they die early in room 3 (enteance, 6 dwellers, 4 dwellers). If you have 2 rooms with 6 dwellers they shouldnt make it to the 3rd room I assume

In survivor mode they show up earlier and what you can do is to send your dwellers away. Once the deathclaws reached every room they will leave without victims

I put 4 single rooms in the first level (5 including the door). All with weapon above 20 and power armour.

Deathclaws never get to the 2nd level and I only feed the stimpaks afterwards.

Falling Out gave the advice I would have given. The most important stat in the game is endurance, you want to train a level 1 dweller to ten endurance, then send them out exploring with sturdy wasteland gear +5 END, if you give them 25 stimpacks they should survive with no issue to level 50 max out on 100 items, and return back to the vault. I actually am way at the end game, so I train everyone to full SPECIAL before sending them out. I've been killing off (now evicting) all of the people I leveled before I knew the importance of leveling them with ten endurance plus a high end endurance item.

My goal is to kill the deathclaws by the end of my first room. I'm close I just got a hardened fat man, that goes along with my other fat man in the vault entrance. The worst weapon I have in the first six person room is a plasma rifle. The third deathclaw barely makes it to the second room before it dies currently.

Thanks for the advice guys, I just got my 1st attack and survived pretty well! Only one (useless) dweller died and the attack was done in about 30 seconds. Cheers for your advice!
