The title says it all.

My top 3 would be:

Sanctuary cuz the feels

Red Rocket because it's iconic

And Starlight Drive-in due to the massive building space.

1. Abernathy farm due to the massive build height.

2. Starlight due to the large flat build space.

3. Sanctuary due to the large space.

4. The Castle due to the theme.

5. Spectacle Island due to the MASSIVE build space

huh, have not really built up, abernathy, gonna have to give that a try. my 1st play thru, it was sanctuary, then of course starlite, once i learned how to build, building up against the screen was good for height, but overpasses? lol. then yeah, spec islnd, build what ya want, it is just not centralized. it is too bad hangmans is so small, but it is SOOOOOOO centralized. beth did this on porpoise. ;-)

Sanctuary feels the most like a settlement that could develop into a town, so I like that one.

Hangman's is my favourite tactical one, with its central location, proximity to a large number of important mission locations, and the extremely defensible chokepoints at either end. I do find I have to remove a few railings that make navigating and building items like artillery/caravan posts tricky.

I like Kingsport Lighthouse a lot. I just find it an interesting location to build and play around with. I also built a giant 7 level combo mansion/tilted skyscraqer that functions as a giant staircase from the house to the top of the lighthouse, from which I snipe nearby Children of Atom while they run around in confusion trying to figure out what's happening.

Red Rocket, I just love how small and compact it is!

Sanctuary cause it's where the story started, just like whiterun in skyrim

I only build solo bases, so Red Rocket is a must. Taffington Boathouse is another nice, small location. Though, you'll have to invest in Local Leader if you want all the crafting stations. Now that we can build those in Diamond City, I might use Home Base on a future playthrough.

Hmm, its between the Starlight drive-in and Kingsport lighthouse.

The Lighthouse is just freaking awesome and is one of the best view points in the game.

The drive-in I actually turned into a Mini town once before and it makes for a good "Pit stop" for any travelers.

Let me be the first to say that I hate Sanctuary hills with the passion of one million suns.

The Lighthouse is nice. Set up a nice bar down on the dock. Totally enclosed the settlement with one doorway lined with turrets. Not much of a challenge when the "under attack" notice comes up.

Spectacle Island I turned into a resort. So far only my companions and one settler reside there. Have one heck of a building project going on there.

The Castle is nice too. It reminds me of all the old coastal defense forts that line the east coast.

I wanted to like the castle, but I kept getting radio STDs from there. :P

Maybe with this new patch I can finally build in peace.

I like Hangman's Alley. I delete everything that can be deleted (even with the Spring Cleaning mod) then build my own mini apartment on top of the little alcove where the weapons workbench is. From there I figure out where the peasants are going to sleep and work, if I invite any :)

Second favourite is a toss up between the Lighthouse and Taffington.

it'd be a great spot if we could scrap all the houses (or at least more of them).

like it is though, they're always in the way for pretty much everything, and they give new players the false impression it'd do to just put a couple beds in them old houses and be done with it :-)

1. Starlight is by far my favorite because of the open space and it's mostly flat. Plus, you can drop a purifier in the puddle and never worry about water again. Lol.

2. Despite the respawning Mirelurk Queen, I actually really like Murkwater construction site. A few missile turrets and gauss rifles for the guards and she's not a problem.

3. Abernathy Farm. Pretty big building space. Good for a small village and lots of excess crops for vegetable starch.

I haven't done Spectacle Island, but I'm looking forward to it.

I hate that place, too. I normally just scrap everything then take all the junk out of the workbench and dump it in a better place :)

These days I don't even bother going to Concord so Sanctuary stays a ghost town.
