Remote mines?!

I'm going nuts trying to write a script for remote mines, so i think ima just throw the idea out there and hopefully someone a little more competent can whip sometime up. I'm new to the whole modding game and still having trouble with some scripting. I've got 2 misc items: the mine and the detonator, each with their own script. Currently, you equip the detonator after throwing a mine out and get messagebox, "detonation sequence activated", and supposedly startscript on the mines script, which i still have to make it simulate an explosion some how. Any help would be appreciated, and hey, if you want to take the idea and run with it feel free to, just share how you done it!
