Missing Provisioner

Post » Wed Feb 17, 2016 11:49 am

Alright folks,

I have a provisioner that has seem to disappear, cutting off my supply line to Jamaica Plain to Warwick Homestead. I assume either in my last post that it was the provisioner the random generated killed settler landed on or the provisoner died in Quincy since it seems, the gunners spawn every like every 20 minutes in my game. However, when I go to reassign someone to fill that route again, it won't let me?

A bug? Any fixes?

Is it better to assign them to Jamacia Plains or the Castle? I was afraid they would like swimming the entire way and die like on Spectacle Island

Does the supply line go over water (am not on my PC so can't check it myself)? If so, try assigning a ghoul or Mr. Handy as humans can die from radiation while swimming.

Not really. It is why I assumed Jamaican Plain was the best. She (I followed her before) seemed to go on the road towards Quincy but then I always get sidetracked at Quincy due to the rapid responds there. And like I said.. now I cannot reassign anybody

I had that issue twice... and both times the supply line reappeared after a while.

It seems like their Brahmin gets killed somehow?

Did you check your population? If he died , you could see it in workshop (in his original settlement). Unnamed settlers do not die from anything apart from friendly fire or failed defend quests. I have a provisioner swimming from the Castle to Spectacle island and he never died.

I`v noticed that sometimes fastravelling to provisioner`s home location fixes supply lines. Sometimes it happens when brahmin get stuck somewhere. After fighting in outpost Zimonia my suppply line to Covenant dissapeared. The reason was that the caravan`s brahmin stuck between a generator and a wall. Usually they can teleport in such cases, but for unknown reasdon he could not do it that time. As soon as I let him out the supply line was restored.

I have made the trip between Jamaican Plains and Warwick Homestead many times now and I don't see any signs of them. No corpse and no trapped Brahmin. Did your supply line disappear? I didn't lose him because the population is remained at 15 ever since I started the settlement and I had to stop it until I gathered more wood.

It is getting irritating. Fighting all the Gunners over and over and looking 1/8 of the map for some trapped Brahmin that their pathways are so "special" most times...

I kind of wish there was a counsel command to summon provisioners.

And as you can see.. it has been a little more than two hours. I don't think it is going to reset itself, unfortunatly

Something similar happened to me. Turns out raiders had kidnapped the provisioner (and her brahmin, lol). Took a while, but after hanging around her settlement of origin for a bit one of the other settlers there finally approached with a rescue mission. Maybe try talking to the neighbors to see if one will give you a quest?

Yes, could be a kidnapping.

Apart from that I have lost the occasional supply line intermittently.

Also there have been 3 or 4 occasions where a line has disappeared for days on end or completely disappeared forever.

One I replaced with a different destination and many levels later the original one returned, so I had a redundant provisioner which needed cancelling.

I'm not sure if it returned because i decided to kill the pack cow that I found always spawned inside a fenced area with no way out or if that was a coincidence.

Another kept disappearing and i found the Provisioner had picked up a bug, possibly poisoning that makes him fall down and get up continually.

I reallocated him to other duties and chose another safer route.

I suggest sending another provisioner to a different settlement and seeing what happens.

Make sure you make them identifiable so that you can more easily cancel a route later on.

Perhaps give them a weapon that you have renamed and make them wear distinctive items.

Their paths can be really curvy. I tried to send a provisioner from Warwick to Spectacle island, but he went through all the map (literally). So I changed it to the Castle.

Version with kidnapping could be right. Try to visit his settlement and to see if settlers have anything new to tell you.

Also , if you play on PC and if you have any old saves where this guy is not a privisioner yet , then there is an easy way to find him.

Save the game.

Load any old save where you can find him. Find him, open console and click on him to know his ID. Write his ID somewhere.

Load your new save, open console and type :

prid ID

moveto player

And just for those who play on PC. When you send a settler to create a supply line, you can save his ID somewhere. Then you can find him very easy with console commands . Just be sure that he is not kidnapped if you use way 1 (I guess way 2 is better in such case , it should not bug the quest, but I`m not 100% sure).

You can use 2 ways. (You should type his real ID instead of "ID")

1) prid ID

moveto player

2) player.moveto ID

I found the solution. I actually couldn't send a provisioner anywhere...

And the solution was that I was right. When I failed to defend the settlement, it picked the provisioner to be killed. Apparently tho, they are marked for essential. She lost her outfit but kept her weapon I equip all my provisoners with. It is really weird bug. It happened when I falled to save the Finch Farm and the Mr. Finch was coined to be killed, but since he must be marked essential, he died, and then came back. However, I could assign neither him nor this ghost provisioner to anything until I disabled and enabled them again. The only reason I found her is because she was chilling with my other settlers. (I was talking with everyone to see if I get the kidnap trigger)

I knew it wasn't kidnapping because another settlement already reported a kidnapping, and I am at a sensitive point in the game where I am avoiding the Castle/ Preston/ Radio Freedom.

Anyways, she is back to work. I am curious on her pathing and might follow her
