Fellow Minuteman!
Have fun dealing with this kind of situation:

PSh... I'd only be concerned if I couldnt do it myself.
It's not like the BoS has the reason to care about it. They stay there for strategic reason and Purifier it helpful for it.
Don't misunderstand: I agree with Maxson. It would be stupid to take up your things and leave. Conquest is the smart thing to do for them.
I never took these Teagan quests before because they sounded shady or off the books.
This time when I went to him as the Sentinel to barter, he told me this sob story about his friend Rico who died in a vertibird crash. Then he gave me a bottle of whiskey that Rico had given to him. So I (as the character) got all teary eyed and agreed to do a quest for him. However, the outcome was unacceptable so I backed off to a previous save.
eh? the way i remember is the mid western BOS provides military protection for resources/food/recruits not demand
in fallout tactics the very first quest involves you taking out a raider base for a local town leader, the result is to impress the town with the BOS skills and get them to provide resources and recruits
at the start of the quest you meet the town leader who actually says something like, "get rid of bad guy x and we will provide you with food, supplies and recruits"
at no point was there a "give me this or else" every new town went like this
BOS "hey can you help a brotherhood out"
TOWN "um maybe if you help us get rid of x"
now never once did it go BOS "no just give us your stuff or else"
everytime it went BOS "sure we can help"
yes tactics is only partially canon, but mainly because of things such as new secret vault, changed the deathclaw look etc, not the actual game story itself that is considered cannon.
is there something im missing somewhere that says they are not like that?
Brotherhood of Steel? More like Brotherhood of Thugs amiright?
But seriously, some people's defense of the BoS is that they say "Sell us your suff or we'll shoot!" rather than "Give us your stuff or we'll shoot!"?
Well its an agreement for the most part. Village elders agree to provide "resources and their best and brightest for Brotherhood training" in exchange for The MWBOS protecting the settlements from threats. The implication of course being that the Brotherhood will ignore their plights if they fail to uphold their end of the bargain or turn down The Brotherhood's offer.
By demand I meant they basically say "These are our terms. If you want our military protection, we want recruits and supplies. Otherwise you're on your own." Demonstrating Brotherhood prowess and the ability to actually defend the settlements is part of this.
Seems like they can no longer use those tactics since if the settlers refused they still got the minutemen to protect them.
