Today I loaded up Fallout 4 and a bunch of weird thing were happening even last night it stutters and freezes in game while I'm walking around and in combat it has super chappy textures, textures take forever to load and frame rate drops constantly my game settings are:


Texture Quality: High

Shadow Quality: Medium

Shadow Distance: Medium

Decal Quantity: Medium

Lighting Quality: High

Godrays Quality: Low ( Tried turning it off never works )

Depth Of Field: Standard ( Low )

Ambient Occlusion: SSAO ( High )

Weapon Debris: Off


All the other options I didn't mess with

I've tried Enboost, Unlocking Frame rate

Nothing seems to help I do however have 68 mods installed but they never before effected my performance

Intel® Core ™ i5-3330 3 Ghz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2GB

8.0GB Ram

Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit


My FPS stay around 60 most of the time and when I'm in the wasteland 40s and 30s

Before starting FO4, make sure your computer resources(CPU, memory, disk activity) is relatively free. Meaning no other processes or services are hogging them.

It worked for a while and now I'm playing and it's still stuttering

Maybe you can play the game in window mode so that you can run some resource monitor application or task manager or whatever things you use to monitor and find out what's causing the shuttering. How about running the game in offline mode (or totally disable your network to prevent any Internet activity)? I believe Window will do some disk optimization but that's when its in idle mode. Or some virusscan doing some background scanning?
