Automatron - Requirement Speculation

Post » Sat Feb 20, 2016 4:49 pm

Afternoon all! Very excitied for the DLC coming our way, but I've got thinking about the first one in particular - Automatron. Obviously, nobody really knows what to expect yet. We don't know what will be available, what the mechanics will be etc. My assumption is that we will receive a new crafting station of some sort to place in our settlements, where we mod our robot's arms, legs, body etc in a very similar way to how the Power Armor station works.

There are a few things that I assume we need though:

Robotics Perk

Science Perk

Maybe Blacksmiths/Weapons Crafting Perk?

Plenty of Mats for crafting

Potentially a large power source, similar to how the teleporter requires power

Can anybody think of anything else we may need to invest in before the DLC hits?

I'm guessing that the Robotics Expert perk will be relevant to this DLC. I've never gotten any of those perks, but I started getting them last night just in case. I've already got all of the other perks that are likely to be relevant maxed out. I'm guessing Science, Gun Nut, and Blacksmith will be relevant to it for crafting various weapons and robot armor and such. It's not the most exciting DLC ever, but it should be cool. I'm just really hoping that this robot companion will be a companion that we can take in addition to a standard companion. I'd love to go hunting in the Glowing Sea with a companion and myself decked out in power armor, with a beefed up Assaultron companion tagging along with us as well.

Yeah, but I'm positive they won't predicate the entire DLC on having Robotics Expert. It might be a thing where hacked robots can be converted into companions and modded without having to scrap them and build from parts. Or maybe they'll add a Robotics Expert dependency on the most powerful bots, like Sentry Bots and Assaultrons.

I really want to see the Fallout 4 design for the Robobrain.

And can we harvest a brain to create our own Robobrain? No, I am not thinking about luring Preston to a secluded spot and liberating his brain from his meat suit. No sir, I'd never do such a thing. :obliviongate:

If it's involved, I'm guessing it'll just be as a requirement for building the best ones or accessing some of the more advanced functions that they have. I doubt that they'd make the whole thing dependent on having those perks. If they did they'd be getting a bunch of backlash from angry fans lol

I'm level 116 with no real priorities on where to spend my perk points at the moment though, so I'm just going for that in case it's required. I'll be able to utilize it in the meantime anyway.

Beep-boop, another settlement needs your help. Have a nice day.

I want to put Kellogg's brain in a Robobrain. Then shoot off the legs and arms and let Dogmeat mark his territory.

I am also rather partial to the toaster from the Old world blues expansion. Probably will have to mod it in though. Add some sort menacing glow effects. After-all, a toaster is only a deathray with a smaller power supply.

Yeah it wouldn't be nice to be 'locked out' of the DLC until you have a free point to put into Robotics. Might be worth saving a few points until it hits and we know a bit more. Then if they aren't required we can just assign the points to something more useful.

What if this allowed him to control other robots? Imagine Eyebots hunting you down just to give you quests!

I already plan on filling the Commonwealth with Eyebots tuned to Radio Freedom, sooo...

I seriously hope we can station our robots at settlements. That would add so much to the feeling of conquering/uniting the Commonwealth.

I am sure we can start the DLC at level one. Bethesda has made it pretty clear in the past that there is no need to really prepare for anything. The Glowing Sea was the one exeption and we don't really have to be strong to survive there. We only need enough radaway.

Thats why I made a save file with a level 101 character at Sanctuary thats done no quests and spent no points, with 100,000 of each materiel that I could get my hands on :)

No matter what the requirements are, I'm good

I suspect Robotic crafting will be just like weapon modifications. There are a few options that just need materials so everyone can craft their own robot companion, but the more advanced options require various perks. For example, to get the most powerful robot companion ever, you need Robotics Expert 3, Nuclear Physicist 3 for the Fusion Core power system, Science! 4 or Gun Nut 4, and Armorer 4.

This isn't related but I really wish the robotics perk and science perk allowed us to improve of the level of the turrets in our settlement. As you know the normal turret and heavy gun turret can be level 1-5 according on the platting. The difference is the ammo type like incendiary rounds or whatever

I wanna use Shaun's brain, at least it'll finally be put to good use.

But yeah, I imagine perks would be necessary in order to craft/mod the robots in Fallout 4

And I have missed the robobrains in The Commonwealth. Glad they are finally making it, but TBH, they should've been there to begin with.

It would certainly be a way to keep the Sole Survivor's son around and most parents supposedly do anything to save their children. There is always ways to deal with death as long as you don't care about ethics and common decency.
