Better combat mods?

Post » Sun Feb 21, 2016 9:57 am

I'm having fun, to be sure, but are there any mods that add more weapon options than "I hit it with my $X"? Sure, the weapon you use can be varied; but your options for using it are pretty much "Hit", "Hit Harder", and "See what the RNG provides (I understand you can get a random disarm at higher skill levels?)"

I'm looking for realistic options; taking into account things like levels. tl;dr, my first-level sword and shield guy should not get "Ranged Energy Sword Slash".

Not sure how to put this, but if you've watched LindyBiege's, Skallagrim's, or ScholaGladatoria's videos, you should have a good idea.

I'd say the two most popular combat mods are these two classics:

But if you don't want anything quite as extensive as those mods you might take a look at this mod:

Also, Duke Patrick's Melee Combat No Recoil:

Combined with his combat archery mod:

I have used Duke Patrick, but the problem is the mod hasn't been updated for quite some years and is not compatible even with big overhauls such as Francesco (first comes to my mind). Due to creature size scaling feature I was scoring headshots while targeting and hitting mobs torsos or legs, every mudcrab attack resulted in headshot, legshot. The same sometimes happened with the actors/ NPCs.

For what it is and what it wants to achieve this is the best one as it strives to deliver realistic and tactical combat to the game, but I think it still needs bugfixes and further improvements/ or turning off certain features in the .ini .

I love Duke's Mod - it is much different than others, and much harder when you are a lvl 1 with measly skills. Momentum is key!

I'm partial to http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/45314/?, but not sure it exactly meets what you are looking to achieve.
