Put the wrong guy on trade route duties

Post » Tue Feb 23, 2016 10:21 am

By accident I assigned the boss man (spokesman) at Country Crossing settlement to a trade route. Now, if Preston gives me a quest to go help out that settlement, the guy I have to talk to is usually somewhere between Country Crossing and The Castle. This means I have track him on the map, fast travel to the nearest point and then chase him down on the road. This is the only way I can start and finish the side quest.

The only way I can change this (I assume) is to catch him in his settlement while in the workshop so that I can reassign him. I caught him once but by the time I got into the workshop, he took off down the road outside of the crafting limits.

Any suggestions?

You could murder him. That would solve the problem pretty quick.

Anyway, this happens to me all the time, but I don't think it's actually limited to one settler that can give you quests. I've had other settlers in the settlement take up the job after completing the quest, and I've had provisioners become quest givers after doing other quests for other settlers in their settlement.

So does this count as a bug?

Yeah I've had this many times with unnamed settlers. Maybe not a true bug but definitely an oversight. I spend my time chasing them across the wasteland.
