Is there a lock option so Dogmeat doesn't loose items?

Is there a "lock" option so companions or Dogmeat for me doesn't loose his items when I just click on collect all? It's a bit frustrating when I equip Dogmeat with what ever I give him, and then I give him my junk, I am at Redrocket and then click on collect all, then I store my junk, then I realize I made him naked again. :P

So am I missing an option where I can select all the stuff I gave him except for the stuff he is equipped with? If not, can Bethesda please include this in a patch please.

I don't believe there is an option for that (PC). I have the same problem with Piper, or any companion, that I have to click each item I want to move from they're inventory so that they don't un-equip the armor and weapons I've given them. I think the whole inventory system needs to be tweaked when it comes to collecting/storing/trading so that the endless scrolling and clicking through long lists can be minimized. I'm sure they will be mods for this when the creation kit arrives.

Thanks Tanis for the answer. I was hoping I missed something. Well here is hoping that Bethesda will do something since I am on Xbox One and might not be able to get this modded in.

Let's hope a lot of people want this feature so Bethesda will put it in.

If it's any consolation, it's still simple for you. It gets really annoying if you're a freak like me, and give your companions RP appropriate Junk/misc items that they're supposed to hang on to for no reason.

Dogmeat has some toys, and as my main companion also carries various "camping equipment" for my character. Piper got some authentic reporter pens, camera and preserved newspaper; Nick of course carries smokes, a lighter, handcuffs and a magnifying glass; I swiped some top-notch surgical equipment at the Insititue for Curie, etc...

Yeah, you can understand how long it takes picking the actual junk out of the totally-not-junk items each time for me.

I feel for you. I was like that as well, but gave up on it since I don't want to spend 10 or 20 minutes just putting things back on them again. That is not adding fun to my limited time playing the game.

Inventory management in Bethesda games is pain in the ass.

You can tab across what he is holding - weapons, ammo, apparel etc. That way you can get all your junk but leave his clothes.
