Railroad Ending - Thoughts and Contemplations

With the RR story line I just couldn't get past the theory that the nuking of the Institute freed the Synths, since this made no sense to me.

With out my Railroad cap on,

I think for the most part the game had to (and did) give every Faction enough rope to hang themselves with. Meaning there Had to be enough fuel for people to both Love and Hate each.... (I would also be so bold to say that maybe the MM actually were a bit to white knight despite how they fell apart being given, And the institute maybe a tad to Shadowy).

With my RR Cap on though, I can only morn the fact that Drummer boy was not infact a boy, so the BOS could not hold that over our heads (heheh)

I think the main point the design team went with (well Maybe) is war indeed never changes.... And yes it does svck.. Because great people and ass's die in equal measure on both sides.

Of course in the case of the MM, they had already been hung. They were a good faction, noble intentions that went bad. They paid for it by almost disappearing as a faction.

I'm really, really glad that I had no real contact with the Brotherhood at all during my playthrough with the Railroad. The first time Nora ever encountered them at Cambridge police station, she helped them kill a bunch of ghouls. Danse basically blew her off afterwards, when she said 'my business is my own'. Okay, that's fine. See you later.

Next time I see them in force, it's during Bunker Hill and they're A) trying to kill me and B ) murdering a bunch of my fellow agents. Then, just to aggravate me even further, they storm into the RR headquarters and attempt to murder the entire crew. Despite us not actually doing anything except defend ourselves against them during BH.

Even though *I* know it's not quite the case, they came off as complete lunatics and incredibly antagonistic. During that playthrough I didn't feel at all bad about counter-attacking and destroying the Prydwyn. One of those school-yard 'they started it' situations I guess.

Fortunately I got in and out without issue (high charisma, hooray for speech checks!) and didn't actually encounter any children up there either. Might have thrown a spanner in the works had I met a bunch of kids :/

Any faction will appear to be antagonistic if you don't take time to talk to them to be fair.

Oh, absolutely. I'm just saying that I fortunately didn't find it as bad as a lot of people do, due to my characters experience throughout. I can imagine the RR ending makes people feel pretty terrible in most situations!

Yeah, I did one RR playthrough. I kinda thought they'd be more compassionate and less zealous. All the killing at the end of it led me to the MM ending that keeps three of the factions alive. I just don't like all the killing. I can see why the Institute might want to wipe out the BOS but you'd think everyone else would want a peaceful ending or maybe want to occupy the Institute, not destroy it.

It was brutal. I won't do it again. I'll stick with the MM.

I had both deacon and danse at the airport base when I nuked the prydwyn. Found danse dead in the airport terminal and deacon is a glowing puddle in the wrecked frame.

I did the Railroad ending a few days ago. After all that I still feel like they are a bunch of radical fanatics trying to free my kitchen stove or something. Aside from Deacon they are all very unlikable and I had no qualms about wiping them out in my recent Institute play through. Lets just say I won't be doing any more Railroad or Institute play throughs. Both factions are a big let down.

At this point I like the BOS the best and the MM coming in second place. MM could have been better but Bethesda just had to put that annoying, weak willed Preston in the game and made him into a inept puppet master trying to pull the General's strings. The old battle axe, Ronnie Shaw, would have made a better quest giver and advisor to the General.
