"Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts will be written the history of this generation."
It is the fourth era, year 241, and the city of Winterhold has slowly regained some of its former glory and is starting to resemble the city it was before the Great Collapse. Under the leadership of a new Arch-Mage, the College of Winterhold is receiving more applicants than ever before.
Much of this new found prosperity is the result of a hard working noble named Lariul Jannus who arrived in the area some fifteen years ago. To this day he continues to build houses and repairing what needs to be repaired in the city and its surroundings, earning him the respect and support of the locals. He was recently selected as the mayor of Winterhold and he carries that title proudly.
Much to the surprise of the locals Jannus recently started putting up notices in the inns and taverns of Winterhold and nearby cities. They all read the same:
Mercenaries needed
as support for a
scientific expedition.
Gold reward available.
Inquiries to be sent
to Jannus Manor
Signed:
Mayor Lariul Jannus of Winterhold
This roleplay is the first act in a large story I've been working on for the past month. The story follows a group of mercenaries who are sent on an expedition with a local historian to recover a magical artifact recently discovered. As is tradition the quest is not all it seems and soon the group finds itself in the eye of a storm larger than they could have dreamed of.
A character sheet template will be at the bottom of the post, it is not set in stone however so feel free to add to it as you see fit.
There are 5-6 spots available. I will be playing one character, and act on behalf of any "NPC" characters that will interact with the group.
Please send characters via PM.
Some notes on character sheets:
- I'd suggest creating rather primitive characters in terms of skills in order to allow them to grow and evolve over the course of the story.
- Same with equipment: armour and weapons. You WILL find items along the way, even magical items, so you can absolutely expect to be able to upgrade your arsenal quite frequently.
- All races/classes of the ES universe are allowed, but don't make up races of your own.
- Khajiit characters must be Suthay-raht and if you try to make your Argonian character a naga or An-Xileel I will throw sharp things at you.
- All characters must be alive. Undead characters should find a different place to nom on brains.
- Frail old men/women and children will receive the Game of Thrones treatment and be killed off just as you start to like them.
- The only real requirement for your character is that he/she works as a mercenary, regardless of their past activities. This must be their current trade.
