Diamond City Radio - more music?

Post » Fri Feb 26, 2016 6:13 pm

I was wondering if more music was an option in an eventual DLC?

I like the music. Honestly. Ella Fitzgerald, who doesn't love her? Oh yes...!

But maybe a bit more varity? After playing 150 hours I almost know the text in all the songs - and am also able to repeat them in my sleep. So....

I'd rather not use a mod on my game. It tends to give some kind of troubles in the end somehow. I had a heavily modded Skyrim, but somehow I don't want to mod this game. It's perfect as it is for me. I just wish for more music. This would be absolutely great for this game.

regards to the Bethesda team

The only issue I see with adding more songs is that the DJ feels like he needs to say something about each one (both before and after his you-know-what) so it isn't as simple as just adding songs, you'd have to add a lot more voice recordings also.

I would like more music though. Maybe just some fillers where he doesn't have to talk.

Doubt it. Thats the sort of thing mods handle very well and it'd provoke a riot if they tried to pawn that off on folks that bought a season pass.

edit: Only way they could get around that is to actually spend a heck of a lot more effort on the DJ. I could see some folks chomping at the bit to get 3-dog back with his own songs. Personally though I still think it'd be a waste of development time.

Yes, I realise that. The speaker has to introduce the songs. But he doesn't necessarily have to do it at every new song?

The speaker is really good btw. Calm, funny and relaxing to listen to.

I know you said you don't want mods, but Old World Radio is too good for me not to recommend it. They have a DJ that sounds like Morgan Freeman, Sam Elliot and my favorite Christopher Walken on a Rockabilly station.

After meeting the coolest cats in the Commonwealth I often wonder how the coasters 'three cool cats' did not make the lineup. It's from the right era

I saw footage of that mod, I would second that recommendation.

The riot would prob

Probably among PC users, but I know many console players would welcome the option. If Bethesda wants to breath new life into the original gameworld then scattering holotapes of new music they've copyright rights for or even public domain (lots of excellent 1925-1935 music and song available ) would help. It would be an easter egg quest rather than story driven, so much easier to program in. Doing so could really liven up the radio waves. Just have a programmable jukebox that you can hook up to your own HQ base tower, or else use the mega station at the Castle as an alternative channel to Freedom radio, no DJ necessary....

Otherwise, yeah , we hold out for a console mod which is bit more sketchy at this point..

I doubt that more will be added.

Another recommendation for Old World Radio here. These are very well done mods. Professionally voice acted and very well made. Personally I'm partial to the Cadillac Jack's Radio Shack station. The full Old World Radio mod includes like 4-5 new stations, each with full play lists. The different stations have different themes. One is just slide guitar kind of stuff, one is basically the songs from Diamond City Radio + a bunch of similar songs. There are several others as well.

To clarify for anyone who hasn't used it, Cadillac Jack's Radio Shack is part of the Old World Radio mod.

Something official would be nice, but it's not that big of a deal to me. I'm used to looking to mods to provide the finishing touches to Bethesda games.

It's GnR from Fallout 3 along with the CONELRAD mod that can be found on the Nexus. Seriously, they just took that mod and added it the GnR playlist and called it Diamond City Radio.

I would like to hear more 50s and 60s music. Still waiting for console mods to be available.

Thanks for that, I haven't gotten too much into mods for F4 yet but good to know. I thought it was something on its own B)

In an update? Yes.

In DLC? No, unless it's just added as a very small and minor detail.

And they added in Magnolia as some extra spice to the song-list.

Honestly, I really like and enjoy Diamond City Radio's song list more than GnR. Less instrumental pieces and more singing pieces.

My greatest trepidation in destroying the institute is the loss of the classical radio station.

This. I wish we can rebuild the Classical Radio Station in an update... (Or in a mod).

They should just add a new radio signal called "Unknown Signal" and via that signal you can add and play your own song list.

Idwtstwof, atom bomb baby, the wanderer, and rocket 69 would be playing nonstop if that were the case.

Mods have already started to fill this need. I do think Beth should have had a larger library for this game though.

Hopefully that's one of the mods they make available on consoles, it sounds awesome.

What if they had holotapes with music on it that you find throughout the wasteland? you just load them up on your pipboy and listen to tunes as an alternate to the radio stations
