I have encountered a group of 6-8 Feral Ghouls with unique names. The names were like Mrs. Sumner, Mr. Sumner etc. What is this unique encounter a reference of? If it's not a reference what is the meaning if this odd event? I'm sorry, I'm just wondering if anyone knows. I'm very curious.

Look at the names of your neighbors in the beginning of the game.

I've encountered them too many times. First time was neat.. second time was like "hey?. what gives?" third - infinity just makes you wonder " Why did they make this a "random" encounter and not just make it a one time static encounter?"

It's happened to me like 6 times The folks from Sanctuary Hills sure are persistant!

WHAT?! So those Ghouls are what remains of the people from Sanctuary Hills that did not make it into the vault? If so that's very interesting how they did that, they are sure are persistent in trying to kill me though.

I have been wondering this myself, General, but I only found out awhile ago that it was your neighbors that you've had before the war.

Jeez. I never figured out that they were my characters neighbours from before the war. That's some low level detail stuff that is just awesome.

Now that I think about it, it is pretty AWESOME!

I forgot the name of the movie, but some movie character that I watched talks about how you can't kill those that are already dead. I think the same probably applies here.
