Ammo weight for survival mode

what i mean was that Ammo with weight or no on NV was irrelevant bc it was easy to come by during quest.

Two factors are in New vegas. The way damage resistance was handled, and ammo crafting.

I mean, I'm pretty sure that has been the case for every Fallout game, perhaps even the originals. If anything, I don't think I've accumulated as much ammo in any Fallout game to what I have in Fallout 4. Same with stimpaks, which was also overly abundant in every Fallout game, though again, you can get an absolute ridiculous amount in Fallout 4 since every enemy and their mother's are carrying at least one on them, and every 1 out of 3 containers has one.

I fully support having a ton of options for the hardcoe mode but I would like to keep them as OPTIONS so I can see what I do and don't like. One thing I can promise is that if the game only saves when you sleep and that cannot be turned off I will not be playing Survival. I simply don't trust the game to continue without crashing for long enough for me to walk (because theoretically fast-travelling would also be disabled) from my base into the Glowing Sea, retrieve something (such as in Liberty Reprimed) and head all the way back without once crashing. Plus, dying at that point would just be lame because you walked all that way. Additionally, I would like to try having ammo take up inventory space, but that would severely handicap my base-building as it would take many more trips. Turning it off temporarily would allow an easier flow of balance between combat and construction.

tl;dr I want it to be optional to experiment with different combinations of difficulty settings.

I would not like ammo weight, but maybe an ammo limit? X number of clips or something. On the other hand, there are plenty of legendary "Neverending" weapons. Maybe they should remove Legendary weapon/armor on survival, that would make the game harder.

I hope survival includes gear like backpack, binoculars and a portable sleeping bag. Pitch a tent if outside to keep the cold out.

If it is changed to rollback to bed saves on death, but still allow quicksaves as long as you do not die then that fixes the buggy and IRL time issues that bed saves only has while still eliminating save scumming immortality.

No, really just no.

Managing weight is tough as it is, don't need to add weight to have single bullet shell as well.

:nope:

This sounds more reasonable for survival/hardcoe mode.

While I would normally be for ammo weight, I don't think it's a good idea in FO4 due to Bethesda's unwise decision to cut out ammunition types and the hand loading mechanic. Handloads were so effective that you could carry far less of them, and they really showed their value on Very Hard / hardcoe. It was a fantastic way to mitigate ammunition weight.

The problem is compounded in FO4 due to Bethesda's decision to overweigh weapons and armor. 27 unit weight assault rifles, 45 unit weight missile launchers, and an already overburdened Sole Survivor due to the Minecraft thing, does not make for a rewarding experience in adding additional burden.

Add in the Legendary drop and weapon mod systems which, in effect, replaces ammo types and handload effect (which were much lighter [and better] in the bang for the buck department)...and weight is already too much of an issue for this game.

I'm all for ammo weight normally, but FO4 is not a good game for it due to bad systemic design decisions that replaced (in my view) previously better, more efficient systems.

I have to agree with this in ways, but that doesn't change the fact that ammo weight is a useful tool.

bethesda needs to re add ammo types.

No, those are parts that are not currently in use but can be attached to any other compatible piece. For example, if you originally had a Quick Eject Mag or what ever its called and switched it to a High Capacity, the Quick Eject Mag will be in your inventory which you can then add to any other weapon without having to come up with the parts again (screws, adhesive). So, you should be safe by dropping them, I believe it doesn't allow you to drop mods that are currently attached to weapons, only ones you removed.

The ammo weight really only hurts minigun and other heavy weapon users who are strictly using said heavy weapons.

On my sniper build I can clear a building in 50 rounds plus some from a shotty, not a problem. On the other hand, using the minigun, you need 3k rounds to do the same thing. I'll still play he new survival but I'm putting down my heavy build for now I guess.

If ammo weight is confirmed, I would like to order a Heavy armor MOD for mounting heavy weapons on the Power Armor.
