Bethesda, please don't disable manual saves on survivor mode

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2016 4:21 am

I absolutely love everything I have read about the upcoming Survivor Mode overhaul, except the manual saves being disabled. I love this game and all your other ones. But there is random freezes and crashes to desktops/xbox one dashboards, etc. We will lose progress and fun player experiences, if this happens during our game. We can't just sleep in a bed every 30 minutes to a hour to save our game. It doesn't make it a immersive roleplay experience.

I know people are going to hate on this post, but I don't think they understand the frustration that we will face when we lose our progress in a mission, or scavenge, because the game froze in battle, or crashed to the desktop/ xbox dashboard. I don't know about you, but replaying what I just did, won't be the first thing I do. it will make me stop playing this game for stretches because my fun experiences in the commonwealth will be taken away from me.

I really hope disabling manually saves is just a rumour and not the truth.

Sorry for the rant, but i just hope they read the subject line for the title of this thread, and hopefully others out there feel as strongly as I do about the disabling of manual saves.

LOL. "Literally"? OP makes a good point -- it's one thing to have to remember to do certain things, like sleep, but just as there's a lot more randomness coded into this game than in previous Bethesda RPGs, there doesn't appear to be any less randomness in the freezes.

I play on Xbox One, which I had no other reason to buy before this game came out. That meant I could also wait for the "Elite" version of the console, with solid state hard drive, which was released a week before the game. Doesn't seem to have made the slightest bit of difference to the rate of crashes. It was a good while before the first one, I have to say, but whether it's in a load screen or just walking around, the game freezes, and it is never expected. Not sleeping when you know you should is one thing, but there's never any real way to know you're going to have to save.

They might be everywhere, but the OP has a point. I have had my game freeze several times, and as much as I want to try this new mode, not being able to save after making significant progress without "sleeping" in a place that would make no logical sense to take a nap just to save kind of kills the enthusiasm.

They can fix that problem easily by allowing autosaves that get deleted only when you die. There's no need to remove the best option of the upcoming survival mode.

I don't have a problem with other games but Beth games for me often synonymous with crash. It's especially jarring while exploring the Commonwealth with no bed, especially with fast travel disabling.

Really? I played like 400 hours and had 3 crashes, and one of them was when i quit the game. Is it heavily modded or just unexplained?

I play on Windows 10, but sometimes the game just freezes, and I can't do anything. I used some mods, but it happens way before I install any mod though.
