If tomorrow you woke up in Vault 111...

I would probably look for revenge of my wifes death and kill anything that stands in my way to kill whoever is responsible.

I would wonder why I was in Boston since I lived in Canada pre-war. Or rather, I wouldn't wake up from the cryopod because the entire population of Sanctuary Hills I'm not a moron.

I think that's a more likely outcome for most people. It's either suicide or a life of violence in a radiated hell hole where the best chance of survival comes from shooting first & asking questions later.

I know I wouldn't have the balls to venture to even 1/4 of the places my character has been, I'd probably leave the vault, go to sanctuary, talk with Codsworth and find out how hopeless the situation is and kill myself

Given my health and mobility issues I'd probably get taken out by the rad roaches on the path between Vault 111 and Sanctuary. For RP purposes I'm playing a younger, healthier, version of me from back during my military service days. She was a hardcase. Now I'm a creampuff.

I'd be dead before reaching the Pipboy.

Now if I made it out? I'd be shot in the head by some raider or attacked by some mutated dog and killed.

Either way, I'm totally [censored]. :hehe:

How many people on this Forum even shoot guns IRL? I shoot guns IRL, I haven't had to kill a human being before, but if they're shooting at me, I'm sure as hell gonna shoot back. I'd definitely try to make vault 111 my first main base. I mean I don't know how to grow wasteland food, so I assume I'd be trying to find a civilization to teach me, where I'd probably meet up with preston, there's the chance I could survive fighting the raiders, then make it to the power armor and mini gun, I assume I'd have to try to take on the death claw, or die.

Sure secretly I'd be freaking the [censored] out over everything, but if I don't move forward I'm gonna die, so yeah survival man.

Yeah, the thought of being ripped apart by a pack of wild dogs makes suffocating in a cryogenic pod look like sweet release.

You can use her wedding ring to buy chems to ease that troubled mind. Also if I woke up in Vault 111 tomorrow I'd literally prise open my wife's cold, dead fingers. Get her wedding ring and go find the nearest chem dealer.

I have a small arsenal, but let's be honest. Unless you make it to Diamond City where you'll be protected by walls large enough to stop most threats your, mine, people's life span would be measured in hours.

And even then, those walls won't protect anyone from Mini Nukes, Radiation Storms, Blood Bugs & Stingwings.

I have no problem shooting someone in a situation like that, I'm sure some people would but most probably wouldn't. However the circumstances of Fallout are crazy and realizing the gravity of my situation I'd probably just turn the gun on myself.

I was thinking more along the lines of knowing how to actually safely use a firearm, without shooting yourself in the foot, but yeah I wasn't doubting most people being capable of shooting someone, just I've heard a lot of stories from a local range officer of people absolutely having no idea how to use firearms safely, holstering and unholstering techniques, handling recoil, etc etc.

a lot people shooting kellogg pistol one handed without any prior experience would probably end up getting hit in the face, or dropping the gun, and then being eaten by the deathclaw they were aiming at.

I for one know I could not handle any of the full auto weapons, and definitely couldn't lift a super sledge, missile launchers would be out of the question, most big guns really. I wouldn't want to carry around this games version of the assault rifle.

Realistically a lot of the mods aren't going to add pounds of weight like they do in the game, a lot of the guns aren't going to be over 13 freaking pounds.

This type of nit picking though can really take the fun out of the game, but I kind of like thinking about this type of stuff.

If its realistically speaking where I die from a shot to the face, then would the raiders also die when I shoot them in the face ?

I guess I'll have to grab my trusty rifle and adapt. I'm sure a Yao Guai is harder to kill than the bears I'm used to, but I gotta survive somehow. Unfortunately for me, I am not military nor former military, so I don't have training for Power Armor, so it'd be best for me to stay away from Concord.

I'd become some kind of desert ranger -- leave the vault, find a decent rifle, live off the land, and keep a low profile. It would be all about survival at that point. Maybe try to collect as much books as possible.

Handguns, AR-15, M-16 yes, missile launchers and other heavy weapons no. Still, I'm years out or practice and the way ghouls move I'd really be wishing for VATS.

However, when you went into the pod there was no such things as ghouls and Supermutants. So upon coming out of the pod, you had NO reason to even suspect that such things exist now. (Whenever "now" might be.)

military trained so think i would do ok, i very much be the one though that would set up "settlements" and invite everyone in and be very helpful and try to save everyone so would have to watch out for knife in back, more likely i would get [censored] stabbed in the back dammit

the biggest issue is if its like FO4 there is a neverending supply of enemies all around, so without HP and other rpg stuff no matter what eventually a bullet would find you and well game over man

would pretty much do as i play my characters now, just even more stealthy, careful and circumspect

and at no point get annoyed and say [censored] it and just charge in to mow down or VATS that last enemy i couldnt quite get a bead on. my patience is exponential in real life vs gaming haha

yep i would definitely explore, stay close to home base first which in this game there is so much stuff lying around not far from sanctuary in all directions and most is unguarded. Is easy to heavily fortify sanctuary too

dont like the idea of living underground so would prefer sanc to vault

for concord well the raiders are concentrating on preston and gang, could probably mow most if not all down from behind while facing wrong way and all that shooting going on.

deathclaw would be scary as [censored] and i prob run the [censored] away except for id be in power armour with a minigun, i personally wouldnt be able to imagine anything surviving that! and theres no "very hard/survival" mode being real life so should waste it. then ive got some friends!!! :) :) that would make everything from then on much easier.

food might be an issue, i dont want to eat some of those filthy mother [censored]ers, but then again there is an inordinate amount of pre war food around, and growing food seems to be easy (growing fruit and veges is piss easy in our world too ofcourse) and looks ok.

would have a huge advantage too with my 6.3lb M16A1 (or other various ARs and rifles i own with proper weights) fighting against others toting 20lb+ rifles hehe :)

and would almost be laughable a bunch of raiders/whatever running at you with melee weapons whilst you are carrying an assault rifle.

id get on well with piper, nick, preston and currie

danse might be a bit hardcoe BOS but otherwise we'd get on fine

macready and cait would be too different personalities to me, not how id be so we prob wouldnt get on, though macready is quite weird i find as when hes talking to you hes very different?

hancock would be ok and would enjoy his company aslong as ive figured out the difference between feral and normal ghouls otherwise id probably try and shoot him (though by the time i get to goodneighbour i should have and also being hes the mayor of and lives in and interacts with etc, that should be no problem)

edit: forgot about strong: strong no way

factions would be interesting

BOS and RR i would flat out refuse to destroy one for the other and argue most heatedly against it (also if i becomae as powerful and as all important as the SS is im sure i could swing them round to thinking my way)

id also try and get everyone working with each other including institute (although id say BOS doctrine would make that impossible)

otherwise minutemen would probably suit, although they would have to become a proper military organisation and follow orders from higher ranks etc

if any one killed my baby id be a very violent angry emotional whirlwind and probably get myself killed, if anyone kidnapped my child id be too

and if anyone kills my baby and steals my child well it'd get proper naughty

I'd gather things in Sanctuary and then return to the vault as other people had already mentioned. It's safe there and there is fresh water. Seeing the giant flies and destroyed world in Sanctuary would convince me to just stay home. My video game story would be a pretty boring one.

I dunno. Maybe, just maybe we would finally get an itch to go to the beach, fresh salt air, that sorta thing. Then we would wander into a meat packing plant and have hearty second helpings of some deliciously scrumptious potted meat. After much pleasantries were exchanged we would thank our host for the economic feast and be on our way out into the commonwealth. Then in the middle of traveling, we would succumb to uncontrollable fits of diarrhea and be a nice marinated shishkabob for an Alpha Deathclaw. You know what your right, we would just stay put.

Screw Preston, I'm heading straight for The Combat Zone to befriend and then seduce Cait. With her at my side, nothing else stands a chance. She's like a mini-nuke with legs. (And such legs!)
