Bethesda, stop nagging me about Junk!

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2016 2:12 am

The longer I play the game, the more this bugs me. First Bethesda makes the game mechanics. I suspect that they intended for the players to use the mechanics that they, Bethesda, deliberately placed in the game. But one of the consequences of gathering Junk is to frequently having your Companions ragging on you about, "Why do you bother with all that junk?" Because I NEED Junk to scrap down to raw materials so I can build and maintain my settlements. Then there's "We're not going to get anywhere with you all loaded down with all that junk." If you didn't want me to occasionally waddle around overloaded, why make it possible? Why even include a Perk that let's a character fast travel while overloaded?

Gathering Junk is a necessity. Bethesda is the party that deliberately made it a necessity. So, !@#$% it! Stop having me harangued for doing something that NEEDS to be done!

LOL. It's obviously a joke of some kind, but it does get tiresome.

I find it hilarious that Piper is like "well if anyone could find a use for it...."

and then if you drop something, she's like "are you sure you want to leave that?" ahaha

You mean like "I used to be adventurer like you until I took an arrow to the knee" kind of joke?

This. Companions shouldn't nag me about 'leaving worthless junk' after I've just traded it to Carla for a load of ammo and all the caps she had. :P

<3 Prewar money and cigarettes!

And seriously, Danse, I need those aluminum cans and life preservers to fix my power armor!

I think BGS actually comes up with annoying NPC's on purpose. This game is full of them. Skyrim has its share. It has the intended effect, too. We talk about them all over the internet for years.

^ I think this is true, but FO4 also refers to "useless" junk in at least the Junk Jet loading screen copy. It's more multi-layered than usual, in other words -- but definitely on purpose.

I usually don't have people following me. If I do, when they start talking about something like, picking up junk for example, I shoot them in the face.

It's one of the many blessings Dogmeat-kun has. His only sin is getting in my way, never judging my weak emotional bones for licking rolls of duct tape.
