What does your character use in combat?

I shouldn′t make this poll as many people make characters who are opposite of each other on this topic, but here we go :P

If you make several characters, what do they tend to use overall?

Both? My first play through used mainly Melee, but carried a 10mm for medium range and Gun-Fu and a Sniper Rifle for long range. Oh, and grenades and a Missile Launcher. They were an Explosive Expert.

Second character mainly used a Combat Rifle for medium range, but also had a melee and long range weapon.

Current character: Again has a short, medium and long range weapon. Not sure what I am going to focus on.

I'm just trying out new things until the new Survival Mode gets released.

You can't do a pure melee build when the turret is up on the ceiling.

I usually mix it up. My most fun character so far has carried a pistol, melee weapon, and grenades. The situation drives what I use. Most of the time the pistol is drawn though, using grenades to take out large groups or tough enemies and drawing the melee (usually a machete or similar) when enemies get too close.

The reason I always have my characters carry a variety of weapons.

Most of my characters focus on guns, but melee can be a ton of fun with power armor and some guns and explosives to supplement it. My pirate used melee primarily and then pistols, but my knight didn't pick up any ranks in Rifleman until his late 40s. I'm actually not sure how I handled turrets with my knight before he picked up rifles...

I realize many people use both options, but I kinda wanted you to make a choice here instead of taking the easy way out :)

Sawed-off Shotgun with Gun-Fu / Quick Hands / Grim Reaper's Sprint, so both at the same time, actually.

I mostly run around in full, upgraded T-60 so I generally have an awesome gatling laser to fit it along side "smaller" energy weapons but I've been known to use a sword or a super sledge every now and then.
